Matcha Green Tea? So recently I've discovered a craving for green tea (lattes), such as the ones from Blenz. Does anybody know where I can find matcha green tea powder for a reasonable price? I went to teaopia at Richmond Centre today and it was like $28 for a tiny carton..:fuuuuu: Thanks! |
Not 100% directly related but check these threads out: http://www.revscene.net/forums/showt...ghlight=matcha http://www.revscene.net/forums/showt...ghlight=matcha |
send a PM to xmisstrinh. she can help you out ... she makes green tea cheesecake using that stuff. |
i could get you some organic matcha green tea power, or organic matcha green tea latte powder. same stuff you would find at some specialty stores around town. |

FYI, there is no need for the "green tea" after Matcha, as "Matcha" means green tea. |
Not sure about powder, but Costco has very good matcha tea bags. There is also powder in the wrapping so you have to turn it upside down and shake as well. |
Thanks everyone! How about Yaohan or T&T? Would I be pushing my luck going there? |
^I get small cans of powder from T&T. IIRC $6. Edit: looks like this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11537581/201...2022.04.45.jpg |
Not to be annoying but how would you rate it and what brand? Does it taste okay (rich/sweet), how many servings, etc? |

Uhh.. comparable to the green tea you can buy at boosterjuice for $25. (I use it to make my own Matcha Monsoon :lol) The label says: Ujinotsuyu - Matcha Hagoroma green tea powder. Contains 40g. Servings really depends on how much you use, 40g is quite alot for just $6. edit: Oh they have a website too: www.ujinotsuyu.co.jp |
Awesome, thanks for the heads up! Do you think I'd be able to make drinks like green tea lattes with this? Or is it just for adding for mixes, shakes, etc? |
^Ive made lattes with them no problem. It works :) |
whoa $6. that is quite cheap. time to go check it out |

I get mine from a place in Landsdowne mall. It's like this place that sells dried chinese snacks and sauces, right by the farm market. |
^ Is it the same price? :D |
I was at South Surrey's Walmart and they had something like this from Tazo (the brand Starbucks use) You might want to try it out. http://www.kristopherdukes.com/image...-Green-Tea.jpg Not sure if you can find it at every Walmart locations. |
best is to have matcha that is freshly whisked or whatever the process is called |
Try Landsdowne mall in Richmond . There's a tea place . You have to look around for it since I don't really know where it's placed . |
^I went to Lansdowne yesterday. Checked out the somewhat small asian supermarket store (near the coffee shop) and they only had tea bags. Went to an asian herb/medicine store and nothing.. Where abouts is the store you guys are talking about? Thanks |
when i worked at blenz i remember looking at the order sheet and its like $60 bucks for 2 50gram sealed bags. Starbucks' green tea cant compare. |
i found out that sasaya's peach jelly is the shit |

As RCubed mentioned, T&T stocks it as well, you might want to check there. Quote:

I heard Daiso has it. friend was out shopping for it today. |
Went to T&T today and got the small carton like you guys suggested, my god the pictures are quite deceiving, the carton was tiny! Haha oh well, it well probably last me a while. It was $5.99 +tax. I also got this other one called Jardin Green Tea Latte powder for $5.99 (20 packets).. Let you guys know how they are soon :) |

Not sure if you're a hardcore matchaa fan, but if you get ceremonial tea from Blenz served in a bowl, whisked until there's no chunks, roughly the same price as the matchaa latte (i think?) you get a hella good energy from it. Never had a crash since there's no sugar just strictly matchaa tea with hot water :) |
