| Trunk release on a new alarm system install
Question.
I just got a remote start system on my car.
The place I got it done didnt mention to me that the trunk release is an extra $30 + 30 mins of my time. If i wouldve known ahead of time I wouldve paid for it.
So I was wondering what exactly is it that I need to get the trunk release working?
They mentioned something about a relay and running some wires..
Any insight would be great.

If you have a power trunk release button in the car already, it's a half hour job. I would suggest going back to where you got it done from to see if they can hook you up for your inconvenience. If not, then come see one of the awesome RS vehicle security specialists near you.

Is it really worth it? I have a lady come to my house once a month to do extra cleaning because she's really good and super quick. My time & effort is worth more than the time it takes her to do that job. We are trained professionals that are insured against broken panels. We have all of the proper tools, tricks & supplies. It'll only take us a half an hour, whereas it may take you all day. Is it really worth it?
I don't want to sound all high & mighty, but I've seen some horrible things go wrong that could have been averted by spending a few dollars.

you need a finger, push some buttons, and to listen for the ringing sound over the phone...
ive given up on figuring out electronics... for the amount of time i spend, compared to the cost of installing professionally... i just let the experts do it.
anything more than 2 wires is 2 wires too much for me =D

You snip or connect one wrong wire you'll likely end up spending hundreds to repair whatever you broke. You're better off paying $30 and wasting 30 mins of your time. 30 mins to a trained professional will probably take you 3-4 hours of research + trial and error. Not worth it IMO.
