I bought my Nikon 35mm 1.8 on a trip down to the states. It only cost me 200 bucks. Lenses are considerably cheaper in the US.

Also, the new Nikon 50mm 1.8 is now out! looks pretty good.

The Shutterbug? they have a big chain there in portland and service has always been good with them. Sometimes they do discounts if you buy two lenses, they'll throw in extra filters

Loving my new (used) voigtlander 40mm 1.4. Bokeh knocks my sigma 50 1.4 out of the ballpark

has a pretty usable focus ring for street shooting unlike some of the other older lens I got recently

Also picked up a 15mm 4.5 not a bad lens but very wide and smallish aperture, mostly I will be using the 40mm 1.4 on the e-pl1

The Voigt 40mm F1.4 is available in several mounts IRC. Ai-S, EF, M... etc

I'm using it on my e-pl1 with the hotshoe digital viewfinder, it's a lot more accurate than looking through the normal screen. Its an M-mount btw, I don't think it will work well with my 7D though.

First time poster but I've been reading for a while. I just got my first 50mm today for my D7000. The new 50mm 1.8G. Broadway Camera in Vancouver has them and they called me as soon as it came in. It's bit pricier than I was expecting at 248.00. I also got the 58mm Hoya UV filter for it.I'll post some shots when I have time.

I also have the 18-55VR, Nikkor 85mm 3.5 VR, and Nikkor 55-300VR as well.

I am going to purchase the Nikon 85mm 1.8 after I went to the camera store to test it out. However, I've read some reviews online about color fringing when shooting wide open? Anyone have any experience with this lens that they can share about?

Yup, you'll get purple CA when shooting high contrast subjects wide open.

If I shot high contrast subjects, what F stop is usable before purple CA goes away?

Should mostly be gone by f2.8, I would think.

Senna, do you think it's worth to get even though it doesn't seem to be able to utilized at wide open shooting subjects that are high contrast? I'm mostly going to use it for portraits.

Portraits should be fine.

It kind of defeats the purpose of it being 1.8 when you're unable to utilize it wide open due to color fringing from my point of view.

Well, most portraits aren't high contrast... It wouldn't be noticeable in most situations.
