You need to pay for a doctor's note because the doctor does not get paid to write them. When you make an appointment for illness, injury, etc. the doctor 'claims' that with the gov't to get paid.

They can not 'claim' appointments made to write notes. This is the same for paperwork....doctors can request payment for filling out forms for school, work, or WCB injuries (or for WCB injuries they re-coup money/time from WCB which is why you have to tell them if it is a WCB-related appointment).

Most doctors have signs in their office listing charges for items they are not covered for.

Lol, I got my hands on an empty note last month, and I wrote a fake prescription in the worst hand writing I could do "spousal massage 30 minutes 3 times a week". My wife fell for it too haha
