Portal 2

Didn't see a thread on this in search so,

just bought portal 2 and wouldn't mind playing with fellow RSers in co op.

Anyone else play? Steam ID is MxP83.

:alone:

twitchyzero 04-20-2011 07:26 PM

do i need to play Portal to understsand this game? I know it's just a puzzle game...I have the original Portal free on Steam too lol
Game's getting mid 90's across the review boards..nuts!

mc. 04-20-2011 07:28 PM

Imma pick it up soon

TOPEC 04-20-2011 09:31 PM

sweet its out

rageguy 04-20-2011 09:35 PM

Yes, play Portal 1 first. The Portal 2 story picks up after the ending. While the story is not essential/required, it makes the cake that much sweeter.

Big.Xero 04-20-2011 11:06 PM

The cake is a lie!

Haha. Honestly glados makes the fact that there isnt anyone to interact with still fun. Damn passive aggressive bitch.

I wanted to hold off buying it so much, to save as much money as I can for my trip next week... But with all the hype, remembering just how good the first one was, and the fact that it only costs $35 in Hong Kong, I got it anyway :o

TOPEC 04-21-2011 10:23 AM

Hmm played 2 hours last night and I'm already at chapter 3. Donno how many chapters there are but seems like a short game for 50usd

You get around 6-8 hours for single player and then you have a completely different Co-op game.

I'm in chapter 6 and it's a pretty cool area. I like what they did with the game.

TOS'd 04-21-2011 12:02 PM

Good game for two plays, lol.

Dragon-88 04-21-2011 12:18 PM

it will change your life. jk. its a really great game that mixes elements of puzzle solving but making it fun while avoiding the tediousness. the humor in the game is pretty great too.

Dragon-88 04-21-2011 03:55 PM

Yeah seems pretty cool. Gotta stop playing NHL11 and try this out today..

I'm assuming portal isnt co-op like porta 2?

Portal/Portal 2 are like 10 star games for 5-6 hours, rather than 5 star games for 20-30 hours. I'll happily pay $35 for that (or even $50 if I had to)

itachi1314 04-21-2011 07:34 PM

Just finished the single player. Valve did a good job on this one.

Gotta love their sense of humor.

This may be taboo to say.. but this is what I'm doing since I'm going on a few trips this summer and need to save $.

Pirate it and play single player first, then buy later to play some coop.

SkinnyPupp 04-22-2011 01:41 AM

I considered that, and I have pirated games before when I am not sure if I would like them. I always end up buying them if I do like them, and uninstalling them and deleting if I don't. With Portal 2, I know it would be worth every penny, so I just bought it immediately :o

Big.Xero 04-22-2011 11:06 PM

so fun. co op is awesome when it gets competitive. Glados likes to rub it in when you're the one not solving puzzles.

mc. 04-22-2011 11:18 PM

Just beat single player, the ending is pretty awesome.

Time to find a partner and start the co op.

LaidbacK 04-23-2011 11:52 PM

I think you should play portal 1 prior to portal 2 because it would give you the background of the game's storyline and gaming mechanics.

I thought the 1st one was fun but it was way too short. I beat it in 3-4 hours. However, valve never anticipated that this game would go big.

Downloading portal 2 as we speak!

_Hotsauce_ 04-24-2011 10:12 AM

Love this game! I sure hope they reveal HL3 soon.....

Fuhrėr-Z 04-29-2011 11:24 AM

This game is hilarious, stephen merchant needs to do more voice acting(he plays wheatly in the game).

Glove 04-29-2011 12:05 PM

I've been playing for like 4 hours and I'm almost done single player aswell, and it seems like this game is A LOT more linear than the last one, in portal 1 you could make a portal on pretty much any wall/surface, in this one only certan walls, its like the puzzles are clear cut infront of you. So linear...

But I definitly want to try co-op with someone after I'm done single, hopefully it will be better.

Fuhrėr-Z 05-01-2011 10:03 PM

^ I found this game to be way harder than 1. It doesn't get more linear than Portal 1, where you're moving from one room to the next. But I think I get what you're saying, when you aren't in the test chambers there's obviously only one surface where you're suppose to shoot on, and it's usually moving upwards...
