i quit the bank due to personal reasons (complicated internal politics and being not paid for OT etc.)

because i am only working for one bank in chinatown, i can't speak for all of the bank, so this is solely my experience for working in a bank within the chinatown community.

so i quickly got this job months before my university graduation. i was trained for few weeks and work as the teller. as you realize chinatown is full of homeless and old people, they would come to the bank every last week of the month to claim their "government support fund" and "old age pension".

there would be huge line up in the bank, kinda like boxing day lol. not to mention grumpy customers that yell at you for holding their cheques or for not recognizing them. there would be customers that would yell at you when you ask them to insert the bank card...it is a weird experience, you could get yelled for doing the correct thing (verifying ID and signature, asking them what denominations they want). there are some customers that are very anal, and it can quite tiring to deal with all those people.

there are good experience, during chinese new year, i get red pockets from customers. sometimes i get free oranges from grocery store owners, discount in food and etc. to work as a teller, you must be thick-skinned, particularly in chinatown, you must be very thick-skinned.

good luck.

Thank you once again

Does anyone remember what they asked for the phone interview? I'm a little nervous just in case they call all of a sudden.

IMO gotta learn how to use your mouth when youre applying for a bank job. a teller job nowadays isnt all just about service. id say its half service half sales. talk with confidence, and be very persuasive in selling yourself to the interviewer. dont jus describe what skills you have, describe how your skills will help the bank.

credit unions pay very well for their csr. But of course there are pros and cons if you decide to stay with them in the long term

Thanks man. Do you mind briefly listing some pros and cons? I'm guessing FSR is pretty similar to CSR?

What kind of checks do the big five retail banks do during the hiring process? I.e. criminal, credit, etc.

Thanks!

^Still haven't got hired yet, son?

What does it matter what they check? Do you have something to hide?

I have a CSR interview at coast capital with the assistant branch manager tomorrow. Any pointers? All they told me to bring was an updated resume.
