Buying a used car from private seller

Hi i am in the process of purchasing a used vehicle from a private seller, this is my first time buying from a private seller so I have a question.

Is the seller legally responsible for disclosing a rebuilt title of a car during a transfer of ownership at ICBC? Or is it my responsibility to run a title check?

both.

seller has to provide an accurate description of the vehicle.

buyer should confirm such descriptions through an icbc history check/carfax

It is your responsibility to perform a vehicle history check.

The seller COULD do that for you, but I would do more checks before committing to buy the car.

Thanks for the help. I called the person and asked again, like ARE YOU SURE you have nothing to tell me about the title of the car? Then he admitted it was a rebuilt.

The crap people try to pull these days.

Never take a sellers word no matter how honest they seem. Do both a lien check and an accident history check. I've had someone lie to me about a car having a lien on it before, told me it was paid off he owed nothing. I was going to buy the car, I did the check and sure enough there was a lien on it. Once I confronted him about this he just hung up.

Dealeships are no better, they'll lie about the history of the car don't take their word either.

You should also get a mechanic to inspect the vehicle as well.

I've never done any of those. I'm doing fine and all my cars were exactly as advertised and how I expected them. Mind you, none of them were over 7k. It all depends how you read the seller, I myself have a very good read on people so I guess maybe that's why or maybe i'm just a lucky sob.
