| Sending money in a long distance relationship?
Me and my girlfriend have been dating for almost a year and we live in different parts of the world. She lives in Asia while I live here in Vancouver. We see each other about twice a year(for about a month each) and I buy her gifts for Valentines Day, her birthday, Christmas etc.
Her mom has been a total bitch and has always been against us dating, just because she thinks her daughter shouldn't keep a long distance relationship but that's another story for another time  So she told her daughter "even if hes not here, the least he can do is send some money over for you every month to buy some stuff to make up for him not being here"
What do you guys think of that and do most guys send money to their SO's when they're in LD relationships?(Not sure if they see each other as little as us)
IMO, I've never heard of something like that before and I don't think I should be sending money over to her. I can understand if we were engaged or married than I don't mind sending money over but when you're just dating..girlfriend/boyfriend..I really don't think that's right..<discuss>

Well we both graduate in 2 years, so after 2 years depending on what kind of opportunities I can find in Asia and how much money I can make there. If its just 5-10k difference, I'd rather just stay here and get her to come(which shes fine with) but if the salary is a lot more in Asia than I'd move where she is and we'll live together, be it in Canada or in Asia. Just wondering, is she Filipino? I've heard several horror stories about this involving Canadian guys..
One thing to keep in mind, the (future) mother-in-law isn't going away anytime soon. The mom will be all over you (and not in a good way) even if you over over there. And if you want her to come over here, you can count on her mother also joining you guys and causing yet more aggravation.
On a side note, good thing your gf has the (balls?) to stand up against her mother. Too many girls out there who listen + follow this kind of garbage from their mothers.
