Yes, the white 9900 will be hitting the stores soon.

Nlkko 11-23-2011 09:51 PM

What is the black circle next to the LED on the white 9900?

Anyways I have some problem with my new 9900. Picked up for about 2 weeks now and the BBM messages occasionally don't get delivered. Cleaning the memory/battery pull seems to fix it temporarily. It's very random, sometimes the messages got delivered, sometimes it's just stucked at sending. Same thing with the browser.

I've also notice sometimes my WiFi signal drop out of the blue even though I'm sitting next to the router. It does come back shortly after that.

Is there a break-in period for the phone that im not aware of or do I have a defective unit?

6insomnia9 11-23-2011 09:58 PM

The black circle light is a sensor for screen to blank out when it up to your face and when you remove it from your face it will turn on.

Installed 7.1 I cant get the hot spot to work. I'm on fido using unlocked rogers phone. I was able to connect to the wifi signal on my 9900 but there is no internet access. Im pretty sure i got the apn settings correct. Please let me know how this turned out for you guys.

Edit: it started to work after a battery pull. Haha

6insomnia9 11-25-2011 06:13 PM

I think you have to call in to get it enabled.

Wifi hotspot works great with the 9900 on Fido. Didn't have to call or anything to get it working. Just installed OS, reboot once as you are told by the phone. To set up, you need to first enable wifi, then mobile hotspot. You then put in your network's APN, username, and password in my case internet.fido.ca/fido/fido, after that you just set a password for your hotspot network, connect your device and you're good to go!
edit: have yet to try wifi calling and NFC tap to send but will report when I update my mom's 9900 with this. Should work like this:

thanks for the tip!

Blarg.

For whatever reason, I can't seem to use my wifi network at home. It connects to my network, tells me it's connected, but I can't use the browser/internet on the phone. If I disconnect from my network, it loads fine using my telus 4G.

Gotta be my wireless network, because it works everywhere else (work, friends, etc)
I'm blaming the fact that I'm still using Vista at home :heckno:

Battery life took a major hit for me on 7.1. Hopefully it settles in better later on.

Usually takes a few days for your phone to settle any new OS.

Battery life sucked for for me. I was down to 30% after 12 hours of use with 11.5 of the 12 on idle. I pulled the battery a few times now and I'm going to see if it is improved.

I have questions about the UMA calling though. How does it work, if it's using my wifi, does that mean I have unlimited calls and can call long distance? lol

NFC works pretty well as well. Works just like the video but I can't seem to send web pages. Pictures/contacts/document to go files sent fine.
You just need to have the phones back to back and after confirming that you want the send and that the recipient wants to receive, it will search for the phone using bluetooth and send.

edit: Can anyone confirm if it costs anything to use wifi hotspot with Fido?

6insomnia9 11-27-2011 08:03 PM

I'm pretty sure it just uses your data.

if my memory serves me correctly, with the big 3 you need some kind of special plan set up in order to use UMA.

Well it worked for me. I set my 9900 to wifi calling only and it turned off my mobile network and I was still able to make calls
