Graphics card woes

Hi,


Earlier in April I stopped getting a monitor signal from my 2 year old computer, so I brought it into NCIX to check up on what's wrong. They couldn't figure it out right away so they offered me their hourly services to check up further on it. I agreed to leave it over night.

When I came back I was told that both of my Geforce 4600 GTS's were dead and that my computer worked when they tried a different graphics card.

I never registered my old graphics cards, so I didn't get the lifetime warranty. Anyways, I decided to buy a new Zotac Geforce 460 GTX.

Everything worked fine from April 18th until April 30th. Now I stopped getting monitor signals all over again! I did however register for lifetime warranty this time.

For both incidents, I stop getting a signal after shut down and start up.

I'm going to go back to NCIX on Monday to get things sorted out on what would be the best course of action for me to resolve this issue.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

must be really bad luck or i dont think your video card can die on you that fast...could it be the monitor? mobo?

I have no idea.
Forgot to mention that I get 4 beeps when I start up the computer indicating that something is wrong with the graphics card.
All of my graphics cards don't show any damage to the naked eye.

-The monitor works fine and I don't see how it could kill my graphics card.
-Don't know if it is the motherboard that is killing these cards
-Another thing that has been on my mind is maybe the power supply is killing the cards? It's a 600w corsair, which I thought was a good brand...
-Surge protector should be okay, because all the other parts seem to work...

Why is it just my graphics cards dying?

I just want to get it running again and never have to deal with these problems.

What's the specs on the pc? Is 600 watts enough to run everything? Sometimes underpowering will kill componets.

My bet would be the power supply.
Maybe if you ran a video card with another rail/molex connector.
If you have a voltmeter, you could try to measure the voltage to see if you're getting stable voltages.

On a system like this, the load is 289 watts, generally your power supply to handle 60-80% of what it can do. eg 289/600=48.1%

Should be unless he has dual xeon CPU 10 harddrives and 50 fans

There's a lot of variables and since it's the 2nd time the fingers are pointing towards the ps

Not entirely sure on exact specs, but off the top of my head I can tell you:

AMD Athelon 64
ASUS M2N32-SLIDELUXE
4x 1gig OCZ DDR2 = 4gigs

1x 500gb maxtor sata hdd

^^ should be good. I guess you didn't research the Nvida forms about the issue people are having with the GXT400 series.

I got the msi GTX460 and after 2 days is topped working. NO singal so i search it up online. Turns out there are some issue on the card that causes this issue. It really can't be fix. Luickly for me I got a new card through NCIX and it worked fine so far. Here is the linke

if you could I would suggest try to see if you switch to the GTX 500 series it seems to have a bitter built quality or get an ATI 6950

I wonder if I should get a new power supply. I don't want to spend more money... bahhhh :S
