Open tonight but close early, not worth going in my opinion. Food sucks this year and prices have gone up also.

The deep fried cheesecake bus was fucking horrible. When you pay they don't even give you a number, so you end up waiting for over half an hour with a dozen other strangers watching like a hawk so that no one steals your order.

The deepfried smore cheesecake was okay, but nothing worth waiting for.
Don't bother. Crowd does not = good. Crowd = ridiculously slow.

Ya, I feel bad for the Italian stand every time I pass. They have a good corner spot too, but I wonder if they actually sell anything.

Another booth that I saw that didn't look to be making money was the black lady with ethnic drums and masks. (Jamaican??)

Guy talked me into buying a tiramisu. It's ok, at best.

One of the reasons I bought it was because I'm Italian, thought I'd help a brother out. I make much better tiramisu myself though.

Apparently the Grand Opening is in June or something. Right now its only just the Opening. I guess in June the stores are all moved in and the closing times are later

I had a chat with her when she was showing me the pipes. She uses them to smoke weed and she smokes a bowl before work in order to be able to talk to us. I lol'd

They were giving away free samples the other night.

Ate it, smiled, walked away and spat it out.

Could use a lot of work if you ask me...

Face it - regardless of how shitty the night market is, you guys will go just for the LGs.

Araaadi 05-30-2011 10:38 AM

^^ true

Me and a friend are thinking of opening our own foodstand next year, I'm thinking like donairs/shawerma and viet subs. After seeing how bad the italian place is going, we are leaning towards just vietsubs

hongers, twanger and mainlanders aren't going to try anything that isn't 'asian'

cruz-in 05-30-2011 02:16 PM

If you make viet subs that at the very least look as good as the ones from Anthony Bourdain in Vietnam, I will buy one from you every time I go to night market.

Ditto. Make them greasy and dirty hehehehe.
But just in case you haven't had a decent one in the city, go to Tung Hing Bakery on Kingsway, and wait until the bread comes straight out of the oven. Trust me, hang around until they have a batch coming out. The baguette is crispy and it just melts in your mouth. Sure, lots of delis also have a decent selection of meats, but the bread makes the sandwich. It's just not good with day old buns that are soggy or chewy.
