Im surprised no one posted a news link yet.

A couple who had knives held to their throat by robbers as they sat in their SUV Thursday night, smashed their vehicle through the glass doors at the No. 3 Road entrance to Lansdowne Centre, striking a woman and her young daughter as they ran away in horror at the approaching vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the entrance next to No. 9 restaurant.

"All we heard was 'give us your money,'" the eyewitness wrote in an e-mail.

The robbers fled on foot, and the young child, as young as three or four years old, was uninjured but in a state of shock as her mother appeared to suffer a leg injury.

"The lady who was struck by the car was on the ground until the paramedics, cops and firefighters came. Thank God the child was fine, but she was in shock. It was craziness. I'm still shaky."

Richmond RCMP Insp. Janis Gray said police are continuing to put the puzzle pieces together about the robbery, and should have more information to release to the public early next week.

Kerry Shular, director of operations at Lansdowne, said the SUV plunged about three car lengths into the mall.

According to Shular, as the woman and young child were leaving the mall, they turned to run as they saw the vehicle approaching, and were unfortunately struck.

Shular believes the young girl wasn't injured, and the mother was injured, though she doesn't know the extent of the injuries.

"Our thoughts are with her and her family. We hope her injuries are minor and that she mends quickly."

I was parked on the left of the black X5. The C-lai then parked so close to me I had to change spots. After I came back to my car, a silver X5 parked beside the black one also over the lines!

BTW, this was in Kerrisdale and it REALLY looks like the next Richmond in terms of C-lais and their SUVs.

Gumby 05-06-2011 10:27 PM

The question is - how did the robbers get into the Lexus SUV in the first place? Doors left unlocked?

no offense but no.9 sucks so i think they should have aim for that instead

You wouldn't be talking if you're out and hungry at 3am with all restaurants closed and you see no.9 open 24/7

^ There are many other alternatives, even at 3am, my friend. No9 is not the be-all-end-all.

This is vancouver...

name a few please, besides mcdix bk etc

slammer111 05-06-2011 11:52 PM

^ Off the top of my head, at 3am..

a few pho places pop up. Gold Train, Kim Penh, Pho Hoa..

24/7 Thai at Oak + Broadway (though the food admittedly isn't that good)

For white food, Denny's is the obvious one..

There used to be a few places for oldschool wonton noodles scattered around Vancouver that closed as late as 5am(!) but I think they've all closed in the last year or so.. I don't know their names though, just their locations. Mostly in East Van.

If you go a bit earlier, many places close at 2am. Examples include Aji Taro and Neptune Wonton Noodle.

dachinesedude 05-07-2011 12:36 AM

no 9 is extremely popular with the after-club crowd, so your argument of going to restaurants that closes at 2am is irrelevant

i admit no 9 isnt really that great, but when your drunk, that shit taste gooooood, bbq duck lai fun ftw

cliffhanger33 05-07-2011 12:49 AM

Exactly^

Its the most popular place you hit up when you're completely done at 3-4am and need to munch out. Helps with the hangover too
IMO, the food's pretty good and good prices, although its on the oily side.

Shorn 05-07-2011 01:38 AM

he was with his girlfriend and yes the man in the rx was the one getting robbed. he lost control of his car and crashed into lansdowne while trying to prevent the robber from hurting his girlfriend and him. he was making the deal in his car.
the robber is now in custody.

oh and it wasn't an ipad, it was more than that.

cliffhanger33 05-07-2011 01:39 AM

Dammmmmmmmmm, will this be on the Richmond Review or smth? ^

Hot Karl 05-07-2011 02:29 AM

victim is lucky this was done by noobs.

2 stolen cars pull in and block off the lexus after the 2 dudes hop in. done! now if you're lucky, you just get robbed.

you serious?

do we seriously need to make a thread with a list of places to not deal with trades? also, never deal with trades in the dark.

Gumby 05-07-2011 07:51 AM

This is awesome if the deal was for a few thousand dollars, but for an iPad, or something slightly more expensive, a tad too much. Next step up would be securing the car with a immobilzer and dropping ontop of the roof from a chopper, cutting a hole on the roof and flying off.

Maybe the buyer wanted the seller know he drives LEXXXUSSSSS and the seller realizes this, got pissed off and decided to jack him up

vafanculo 05-07-2011 12:12 PM

thing is, even for the buyer its risky to get in someone elses vehicle. Do we really need to go back to the golden kindergarten rule ''never get into a strangers vehicle''?

Datsun 05-07-2011 01:40 PM

Probably was this type of transaction:
