i normally don't sell/buy anything expensive 2nd hand but i've done many transactions in a car as a buyer and seller...never a problem especially if it's a busy parking lot like in lansdowne. I guess the victim wanted to create a scene to avoid getting harmed..too bad a women was hit.

Robbery ends with SUV crash into mall, hitting mom and child

By Martin van den Hemel - Richmond Review
Published: May 06, 2011 2:00 PM
Updated: May 06, 2011 4:10 PM
A couple who had knives held to their throat by robbers as they sat in their SUV Thursday night, smashed their vehicle through the glass doors at the No. 3 Road entrance to Lansdowne Centre, striking a woman and her young daughter as they ran away in horror at the approaching vehicle.

According to an eyewitness, the incident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. at the entrance next to No. 9 restaurant.

"All we heard was 'give us your money,'" the eyewitness wrote in an e-mail.

The robbers fled on foot, and the young child, as young as three or four years old, was uninjured but in a state of shock as her mother appeared to suffer a leg injury.

"The lady who was struck by the car was on the ground until the paramedics, cops and firefighters came. Thank God the child was fine, but she was in shock. It was craziness. I'm still shaky."

Richmond RCMP Insp. Janis Gray said police are continuing to put the puzzle pieces together about the robbery, and should have more information to release to the public early next week.

Kerry Shular, director of operations at Lansdowne, said the SUV plunged about three car lengths into the mall.

According to Shular, as the woman and young child were leaving the mall, they turned to run as they saw the vehicle approaching, and were unfortunately struck.

Shular believes the young girl wasn't injured, and the mother was injured, though she doesn't know the extent of the injuries.

"Our thoughts are with her and her family. We hope her injuries are minor and that she mends quickly."

I was parked on the left of the black X5. The C-lai then parked so close to me I had to change spots. After I came back to my car, a silver X5 parked beside the black one also over the lines!

BTW, this was in Kerrisdale and it REALLY looks like the next Richmond in terms of C-lais and their SUVs.

they were probably taught to park ON the line :fullofwin:

Probably manslaughter or criminal negligence causing bodily harm/death.

I probably would've parked really close to the black one just to block their access to the driver's door.

I don't drive an expensive car, so I figure they'd be more cautious about opening their door, afterall, they don't want their door rim dinged either

c-lais don't care either. They will ding you and pretend if nothing happened. Actually, they will ding you and not even know it.
