Best Headset period?

My Sennheiser PC350's microphone stopped working, and there is a short in the wire for the left speaker.

I need a new headset and would greatly value the opinions of those in the community as to what i should look at. I want the best out there...between $100-$300(use ebay prices).
For many years I've only looked at Sennheiser's, they have performed very well, but has left me out of touch with the rest of what is available on the market. I have considered just getting an other pair of pc350's or maybe the 360's if any one has compared them. I don't want to just be looking at the pc orientated; headset's ether, studio, aviation, DJ, etc. I want the best sound i can get with emphasis on the speakers over the mic.

I have considered getting a separate microphone and picking up something like the HD600's or better, I realize using a combination like this would give me the best possible sound, but I would like to leave that as a last resort.
-Best possible sound for the use in music and PC gaming.
-Headphone amplification is accounted for in the case of high impedance headsets.
-If any any special connections/adapters are required; like in the case of aviation headsets please note it in your comments.
-I could also see myself pickup a usb sound card of some form for when I'm using my laptop instead of my pc, and would appreciate any suggestions on that note as well.

The PC360 or the 333D are good choices in my opinion.
