Memory Express price beat policy change

Looks like the price beat days are over.

Instead of beating the lowest price by 5% they've now changed it to beat by 25% of the difference. Still a savings but not as much.

Called the uber price beat guarantee.

604CEFIRO 05-11-2011 11:55 PM

when i bought my naga mouse last month, they were beating prices by 10%, that dropped to 5%... and now this?

ddr 05-11-2011 11:55 PM

depends on how big of a price difference you can find. and sometimes an online retailer has a better price than both ncix and memX by a large margin (rarely).

i liked the older policy better since we are in a city with NCIX stores haha.

FerrariEnzo 05-12-2011 05:07 AM

they wont beat the price if its a MIR but match it... ive tried.. damn it

FYI guys, ME in Richmond still has the 5% local price beat in store. they will give you the 5% or the 25% of the difference whichever is lower.

happy shopping !!!

Ronin 05-12-2011 10:33 AM

I just did the 5% thing yesterday at Memory Express.

Sweet. Saw it on the website and assumed it was for all stores.

well that's great cause you don't need to wait 6 - 8 weeks to get a measily $10 rebate .. or whatever the rebate value is.

LiquidTurbo 05-12-2011 06:52 PM

Just picked up two 1TB USB 3.0 2.5in portable hard drives with the 5% price beat. Amazing deal, just 109$

Im buying a TV tomorrow ;p

InvisibleSoul 05-13-2011 11:56 AM

Not surprised... they may have been losing money on some items with the price beat.

For some items like CPUs where every single computer store sells the same thing, the margins on it can't be very high... and if they have to sell for 10% cheaper than the LOWEST competitors price, I would not be surprised if they weren't making any money, or even losing money.

Item at ME: $999.99
Item at NCIX: $999.98

With 10% price beat:
$889.98

With 5% price beat:
$949.98

With 25% of difference beat:
$999.98

Lose.

twitchyzero 05-13-2011 07:07 PM

with pricematch/beat you are always bound to have loss
but their aggressive pricematch marketing's gained them tons of loyal customers im sure..25% of difference is still going to win many business

c_loke 05-15-2011 11:26 AM

was just in ME yesterday. Apparently from what the sales rep told me, they are doing a 25% off the difference/5% price beat. You can choose which one you want.

LiquidTurbo 05-15-2011 02:26 PM

Yea, she said it should be around forever. Pretty smart if you ask me. Should eat into the market that NCIX has been sorta dominating..

Mr.HappySilp 05-15-2011 03:35 PM

The thing I don't like about memory express is that when I order something online, I have to go to the store paid with my visa at the store and then wait till the items arrive then go pick it up.

With NCIX I place the order online, paid online and then go pick up my order when it arrive.

I don't have to go to the store 2 times. I live in BBy and even though MemoryExpress isn't too far but gas does cost money and going to Richmond 2 times might not be such a saving after all.

If only Memory Express can fix their online ordering system.

!MiKrofT 05-15-2011 05:41 PM

That's weird. It should be the same policy as if ordering online and shipping to you. They have the ability to process them online.

When I worked for best buy I could not understand why people spend 150 to get their computer setup with norton granted the software is 100 bucks regular but every year it goes on sale for 29.99. What's even better is how we can sell 150 setup on a Mac. All we did was start it up input customers info did a little configuration and that was it.

Back on topic I was a mem express the otherday and ordered a d7000 and price matched with broadway camera. The guys was extremely nice and gave me the 5% with out hesitation.

Yeah they sell Canon and Nikon SLR bodies and lenses and some others. Not sure how much they keep in stock though.

!MiKrofT 12-14-2011 08:23 PM

Pulling up an old thread. Does anyone know if ME still has the 5% price beat in store or is it only the 25% of difference now?

twitchyzero 12-14-2011 08:39 PM

damn i was reading the thread not realizing it was from 6 months ago
whether officially or not...i am sure if you are somewhat of a regular customer they'd be more than happy to give you 5% beat...could be wrong as i haven't bought anything in few monthss
