Grad Camping areas.

My senior class is planning a grad camping for all of us but we're not sure where. I was wondering if anyone has some grad camping are suggestions?
Here's what they have so far
  • Chipmunk Creek
  • Harrison

Any input would be swell.

Highschool grad?

Are you planning on an actually camping trip with tents or "camping in a cabin/house" type deal?

if it is the latter and you're 18 years old, not many renters will rent to you.

Harrison. There are some nice, car-accessible spots along the west side of Harrison Lake if you don't mind doing a few kms on a logging road (two weeks ago, we went ~40km up the logging road to get to our spot).

i think you should take your class to go watch Fast Five

Hope Flood Road...It's a REAL camping site...not some place where people can go to outhouses for washrooms and a concierge when they need chips and pop...

Make you you pack out all the shit you bring in!!! I hate this time a year since a lot of these grad camping trips people leave huge garbage behind not giving a fuck.

Why camping? That sounds so dull. My bro and his buddies are going to asia hitting up thailand the day after their convocation in June. After 4-5 years of post secondary, you deserve to give yourself a treat.

Jegz 05-13-2011 01:38 AM

Cuz everyone is so balling right? Camping is the best bro.

Squamish or penticton. There are some good official and unofficial campsites in both towns, especially in Naramata.

Yeah, camping is pretty dull. I can't believe you don't just go travel around the world, start with NY, then Paris, head over to Egypt, then Russia, stop by HK and Japan, pop over to Brazil, then stop in San Fran on the way back home! After all, you deserve it!

I said to go on a big trip because after all, you will be looking for a career job after grad so why not travel when for the next 35 years or so you will be strapped down with 2 weeks of vacay a year?

This is probably a rare opportunity that will never present itself for a long time

I get the impression that these are high school graduates, not university grads.

And to the OP, go to 16km mark on the West Harrison FSR. It's where all the grad parties go, hell I went there. Like Murdoc said, pack out what you pack in, or atleast make a conscious effort to. It's lowered car accessible, my friends z32 made it.

You're missing the fucking point, christ. I definitely couldn't afford a fucking trip to Asia when I graduated. I'm glad your friends had money though, musta been fun.

Ppl saying go on a trip that requires a plane Probably wouldn't be too comfortable without a computer and hot water

I've been to quite a few places in the world and not much beats kicking it locally with little to no amenities

You think his/her grad class can ALL afford a plane ticket across the world. Camping is probably the best thing u can do for everyone to chill out and party all together.

Anyways to the OP, all i gotta say is avoid all the family oriented places or anything official. I think a group like your would be kicked out pretty fast.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAH AHAHA. No, that is all.

edit: not gonna be a total dick, my buddy from Mission told me the cops setup up a roadblock for his caming "where the city street ended and crown land started". I take that to mean that they put one up at the fish hatchery? Murdoc, you ever heard of anything like this?

why would they have it at the fish hatchery when it's so easy to see and turn around. :D

Like I told you grad camping pisses me off with the garbage left behind. When I go camping I ALWAYS pack out more then I bring in then when I come across spots like this I want to snap.

and yes I could prob tell you every spot they are going to have a road block from Hope to Squamish.

PavelGTR 05-13-2011 09:06 PM

Go to Penticton for camping, but you guys should just get a hotel room in Whistler and get mashed.

dbaz 05-13-2011 09:21 PM
