7.1 Surround Sound PC Configuring

So I bought the steelseries 7h headset mentioned in the other thread.

I have been trying to configure the surround sound to sound properly. It seems to echo a lot while watching videos or playing music.

I have tried fiddling with the software it came with but it seems the same even when I change it to 2 channels

Make sure you turn off your onboard sound on your motherboard on your device manager? Enable your sound card instead.

I use my soundcard for speakers and such, but the headphones came with a usb sound card.

I think it turns off the onboard sound already because speakers do not work when i put in the usb dongle
