I find it amusing that on the same day this post was made, several really good discussion threads opened up.

bloodmack 05-17-2011 09:32 PM

Why are people scared of being failed? :lol

Not afraid of being failed... I feel like I'm wasting my time going through the motions of posting something well thought out only to have someone hit the fail button with no response why. I dunno about anyone else but that's the main reason I don't post much anymore.

BNR32_Coupe 05-17-2011 11:18 PM

this is like the 3rd thread ive read about revscene traffic/culture depleting.

i think this website is positioned primarily as an automotive enthusiast website. so when the trend shifts away from cars, the traffic shifts with it. to compensate, revscene has diversified their forums into other areas.

lastly, a mod will never say traffic is dying even if it's true. its in the websites stakeholders best interest to always present the website as a growing, thriving community. this is necessary for generating advertisement revenue, which churns the whole website's operations

wow how tiny and pathetic ur balls must be to be scared of fails

someone fail this cat for me

Culture_Vulture 05-17-2011 11:25 PM

Ever since the mods became more strict in moderating, and the introduction of the FAIL system, people tend to post less stupid shit anymore. Which is probably why it feels so much slower--people just make more productive posts and there's less to talk about (figuratively speaking).

BNR32_Coupe 05-17-2011 11:27 PM

not to step on shoes or anything but removing the fail button around christmas time was a good move. as shown in this thread, people are obviously concerned about being failed for posting something dumb. if people post less, theres less conversation, less search phrases, less appearances on google, less traffic, less advertising revenue, also less work for the mods. so if they're being paid a salary then their efficiency just got lowered. inb4igetbanned

the fail button doesn't increase website quality by having regular users discourage shitty posts. it lowers website quality. any publicity is good publicity. there's a community run control for discouraging shitty posts already: the report button.

Yea, because you lack a fail button to remind you how idiotic you can be sometimes.

WTB: REVscene circa 2002.

dinamix 05-17-2011 11:51 PM

Too much cyber-bullying on revscene. Members are scared to get failed and think theyre going to get beatdown at our meets. Arash, hyde and the 14 dolla balla have probably committed suicide because of this. I'm surprised timpo is still alive.

Beatdown at a meet? 90% of those wannabe e-thugs would be shaking their legs if confronted in real life.

This is only my first thread I've seen this... but that's not surprising given that I spend 90% of my RS time in the Canucks thread now. I'm on the fence about the fails. I have to admit I care about them even if it's just the internet. It doesn't ruin my day or I lose sleep if a bunch of strangers on the internet give me fails for my post. But it does make me moderate myself before I start spewing garbage. That being said, I think people trolling will troll regardless. And people with stupid comments/threads will be posted anyway. Most of the BEST threads are from new members that are stupid to begin with, and has nothing to do with a regular member being too scared of posting something. So if the fail button was removed, a surge of retarded-ness won't suddenly skyrocket from smart members that typically post non-failing things.

I don't mind the fails, because if you think it's a possibility that your post might get failed, it probably will.

Larry Chu, aka XtC-604:
-drives a light blue S2000
-drives like he owns the road
-general consensus is that he's a douche
-in this post of his, he claims that he averaged 160km/h during a cruise on the Sea to Sky highway, hitting a max of 220 - basically the kind of attention we DON'T want when a bunch of RS members are cruising together.

And RangeRover is dtox89's girlfriend. dtox89 comes from a wealthy family and drives/drove a Lamborghini. RangeRover appears to be materialistic, but denies it. She also starts threads such as this: Do you guys want dtox to come to the car meet? Also got in a shouting match with Marco911. Total attention whore, in my opinion.

how did I ever miss that thread?!!

now I gotta spend a few hours reading through it.

orange7 05-18-2011 10:16 AM

.

k3mps 05-18-2011 08:28 PM

i was just thinking.
maybe we could have a car review thread or chat.
there's always people asking for advice on cars and what they think of certain cars (i have myself).
maybe if we have one of these chats, those who have a current model of a car, or have just test drive one, can post their own review / thoughts for everyone to see.
also, everyone can share their experiences / thoughts on the car at hand.

im seriously just throwing this idea on the table haha, maybe i'm the only one here that thinks this?
cheers

Hey, it's pretty cool. A gold digging bitch satisfying a male who otherwise would be :alone: without his parents.

Slifer 05-22-2011 06:50 PM

I think we should remove the fail button if thats what it takes to increase traffic.
