OP>>> Really hard to say what is the "BEST" because everyone's got their opinion. Really comes down to what viscosity you need. Alot of the higher end newer cars require a very specific type of oil (ie. G37's, M3's, etc) What kind of car is it? What kind of engine modifications/tuning? |
how much are you willing to spend? i used to use Mobil, but have since switched to Castrol because it doesn't burn as quickly. and the tests on the oil from blackstone labs are better too. |
From what I've gathered from the Interwebs... Motul and German Castrol are awesome. Pennzoil yellow bottle dino is good too. |
Many oil brands are good depending on your preference and if engine has mods or specific tuning or even boosted. Few come to mind, Motul, Redline Syn, Royal Purple, Mobil1... Best to do your research to decide whats better for your engine and budget. Good luck! |

^ Canadian Tire and Walmart (Vancouver location does not carry it but most of the other ones do.) It's on sale right now @ Canadian Tire - $7.47/L! Good until June 16! Oh, and FYI - German Castrol is a Group IV true synthetic and only available in 0W30. |

Make sure it's okay for what your car(s) uses! |

Royal purple is my preference. Posted via RS Mobile |
For an affordable full synthetic oil, pennzoil platinum gets very good ratings. |

Only using Total Quartz 9000 Full Synthetic. Seeing better gas milage, and change intervals are longer. Engine runs really well, and oil stays pretty damn clean after a few thousand km's. No complaints. Engine: built B18C5 |
if you want any technical data, go to bob the oil guy website, apparently penzoil ultra / platinum are on top of the list |
Is it ok if I were to switch to using synthetic oil in my Accord. It is a 03 model with roughly 160k. |

Usually not recommended to switch back to regular oil after using Synthetic |

Anything but M1 5w30. I personally like PP. But in general, oil brand doesn't really matter much... |

The topic of a high mileage motor is subjective. If it's mainly been used for daily city driving, the overall physical condition could be worse and if using synthetic, it would leak like excessively. On the other hand, if your car has high mileage and was used mainly for highway driving, typically the overall condition of the motor is in better shape (less wear & tear) so synthetic should be good. However, these are very generic statements and claims. Best to do more in depth research. |

I've been using Motul 8100 and Eneos 5W30 for my WRX and its was great. Both felt great. |
