2010 BMW 335d Warranty

Hi guys,
So I was taking a look at a 2010 BMW 335d series that I saw on craigslist in Langley today. I went there thinking that it would come with the 4 year warranty that BMW usually offers as this car is a 2010 model. This car had been in an accident and apparently it voids warranty, according to the seller. Is this true?
Tomorrow I will call BMW with the VIN number that the seller has provided me to check if the car is still under warranty, but I would like to know in advance as the warranty is what's only stopping me from getting the car. Does anyone else have experience with BMW and it's warranty service?

the warranty is only void if the vehicle was written off and put back on the road

Any other reasons? I don't think it was written off.

Seller was actually unsure if it had warranty or not, and i guess best way is to call bmw first thing tmr

Written off BMW = 100% void warranty = money pit

Spend more money and get a Certified Pre-owned.

if it was not written off, the warrenty still stands - but only on areas unaffected by the collision damage.

i.e. if the car had suspension damage on the left front corner, any further concerns would not be covered under warrenty related directly to that specific area.

A seller with a 2010 BMW doesn't know if it has warranty or not? What kind of idiot are you dealing with? If it's a used car lot, I'd run away.

accident does not void warranty.

I believe if the collision was repaired by a "BMW certified collision center", then you retain full original BMW warranty.

But to be honest, if the seller says he doesn't know if the car has warranty, I would take it as a no and walk away. As others said before, the only circumstance that this car (assuming locally bought from dealer) does not have a warranty would mean it's a salvage/rebuilt.

Get an ICBC history report. Will cost a little. But well worth it before you dump 30-45K on used BMW.

had a 09 i seen with same scenario. BMW canada data showed warranty was voided on the actual screen due to a collision and became a rebuilt title car. id really avoid this if there isnt a warranty on this 335d

Thanks guys for all your tips!

I called up bmw with the VIN and they said warranty is still in tack and was in deed bought locally at Brian Jenssen BMW. I'm gna go to BMW in Richmond this afternoon to reconfirm. The seller provided me with a full Ministry of Transportation inspection after it was fixed up after the crash and it was all approved, I personally saw the documentation. he also showed me the official history background check of the car.

Im going to pay and give it another inspection by BMW officially today to make sure everything is good, with a full history check again.

This is my first time buying a used car, and I'm just being careful.

Actually you can check if it's a rebuilt/salvage for FREE on ICBC's website. You just needs the VIN and year of vehicle.
http://www.icbc.com/registration-lic...ehicle-history

(It says $20 but click on it and it will say free title status then if you want the claim history you pay the $20)

Normally there will not be an inspection after it was repaired from just a collision.

Good that you are doing so much research for buying a used car. I still have an iffy feeling about this car so buyer beware!

EDIT:
Make sure you do a lien search too!
