lensbaby vs post processing?

do you find it impractical to have things like selective focus while shooting rather than post processing? I find that if you use something like a selective focus lens (or even b&w setting on dslr) i will miss the potential outcome of the picture..

opinions?

There are a few things that are difficult or impossible to duplicate in post-processing (actually, the only add-on I can think of that definitely CAN'T be done in post is a polarizer). I've never seen the effects of a T&S lens *convincingly* done in post, although in theory it should be doable.

One of the first things I learned when I took audio engineering courses, was to record straight to tape with no effects, because you can't UN-do the effects later, but you can always add them. I tend to apply the same thinking to photography: capture the scene as un-altered as possible, because it leaves more options later.
