Teacher Beats Children http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Wor...sted_By_Police "WARNING: VIDEO CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES OF CHILDREN BEING BEATEN. The man, named in Egypt as Magdi el-Shaar, is shown apparently marking the children's homework before hitting them with a ruler. He is reported to have blamed the country's revolution earlier this year for his actions, understood to have taken place at a centre in the city of Kafr Shukr, in Gharbiya state. Video of the disturbing scenes - which have already been viewed by thousands after being posted online - captures pupils screaming in pain and attempting to avoid the blows. More than 10 children, all aged under 10, are seen being abused." :troll::troll: Russel...somebody is going to get a hurt real bad....somebody. |
I wonder how well these kids perform in school compared to kids here. |
speaking from a Taiwanese point of view, honestly this isnt bad at all. (im borned in the 80s) its funny that many, if not all the parents were encourage the teacher to beat their kids at school (starting from elementary to middle school). Things kinda changed since 5 or 6 years ago... new parents became pussies and trying to sue teachers for beating their kids .. new generation in Taiwan is all about "education with love".. dont beat the kid, show them love .. |
This happens in India all the time, maybe not in the bigger cities but definitely in the smaller villages...and those kids are math geniuses because of this strict "discipline" |
sad to say but ive definatly seen worst.. |
I had tons of beatings growing up =( |

My parents always told me stories of when their teacher hit them with the meter stick. This type of thing isn't really a big deal in most other countries. |

My English still shitty because there wasnt any beating at all in Canada :D |
How come the girls got the harsher beatings? |
Ive been beaten by teachers at school in Asia after failing a test. No biggy. The scary part is going home and get beaten by your parents for the second time. This time it hurts! lol |
yeah this is pretty standard practice if you attended schools in Taiwan..stems from strict disciplines in the Japanese culture which WAS encouraged by the parents. I think they stopped doing it in the late 90's though. Grabbing by the hair is a little extreme however. |
When I went to Elementry school in Winnipeg in grade one and two the teacher used to hit me with a ruler for being loud. Man that really sucked lol |
i got sent to boarding school in India when i was in grade 6. i got my ass whooped there lol. bounced back to canada for grade 7. that shit is normal there |

lol corporal punishment is the fastest way to learn. the military uses corporal punishment for a reason. pain sucks. |
happens all the time in asia oh well |
edit* |
beating a child for not doing there homework or doing it incorrectly is wrong but hitting them when they misbehave is good. |

In fact, they do learn quick, but lose some of the other stuff. |
edit - lol parm104 nailed it |
haha, I've been beat worse by my parents. I'm sure a lot of others have been through worse also. So I have to say, the video isn't that bad at all.. |
im surprised that this is news.... i thought it was only north america that did away with teachers disciplining students? so yeah big surprise ;) |
Growin up in a traditional chinese home..yea...although my parents never encouraged the teachers to beat kids..they did believe in.. dont hit my kid cz he didn't do his homework. I will discipline him at home http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/378...tingasswho.jpg |

I'm pretty sure every child outside of North America has been beaten. So I don't think the research you're talking about is significant. They probably asked all the kids who are socially awkward or outcasted if they were beaten when they were younger and they answered most likely yes. And some genius saw a causal relationship there and inferred that because they were beaten they are now socially awkward/outcasted. If that were the case half the world would be socially awkward/outcasted. |
