Chinese student sells his kidney to buy an iPad 2 The title says it http://thenextweb.com/apple/2011/06/...buy-an-ipad-2/ "We encounter some pretty bizarre stories here at The Next Web, but sometimes one comes along that just makes us say…WTF? The Global Times has reported that a 17-year old student in the Anhui province in eastern China had one of his kidneys surgically removed so he could afford to buy an iPad 2. The high school freshman – called ‘Zheng’ – contacted a kidney-selling agent on the Internet, who offered to pay him 20,000 yuan (about $3k (USD)/£2k (GBP) ) for one of his kidneys. The operation was carried out in Chenzhou on 28th of April. The report states that he returned home with a laptop and an iPhone, so it’s not clear whether this is a typo, or he had a change of heart as to the gadgets he wanted. And it’s a reasonable guess that he had a little money left over after his purchases. Zheng’s mother, suspicious of how he had acquired his new gadgets, reported the matter to local police who have thus far been unable to contact the agents in question. The hospital where the operation took place apparently isn’t qualified to carry out organ transplants, and it has denied any connection with the kidney removal operation. It also added that its urology department is contracted to a businessman in Fujian. Shanghai Daily quote the boy as saying: “I wanted to buy an iPad 2 but could not afford it. A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan.” " |
kids will be kids....just like girls in surrey and langley.....will do anything for blow. |
I'd buy a kidney for 20,000 yuan. Last time a guy I know checked, it was $250k usd for a kidney from the Mayo clinic. Good news though, install is free! :fuckyea: |
wow, this kid got ripped off. $3K US for a kidney? Those go for at least $20K on the black market don't they? |
|
his mom must be proud. |
wonder what he's going to sell next year when the iPad 3 comes out, and the year after that for iPad 4 |
What a dumbass. Guess he values toys more than his own body. |

A couple of months later the agency calls up the same kid asking him if he wants to offer his lung for an iPad 3. |

I'd give up a kidney for a 2012 WK2 SRT8. Posted via RS Mobile |
Winner |
at least he consented to this better than waking up and feeling ill because you were robbed of your organs |
His health is reportedly deteriorating. |
I'd sell a kidney for a night with megan fox |
Loosing a kidney takes like 30 or so years off your life I heard. Stupid kid I don't feel any pity Posted via RS Mobile |
The only organ I would give up is half my liver since that shit can regenerate. Other than that... hellllll no On another note, my buddy just got his liver checked because he drinks a lot and it's functioning at 25% below the normal values for his age. So those of you who drink a lot. I suggest getting checked out! |

I call bullshit on this one; a kid going all the way from Anhui to Hunan for an operation to take out his kidney when there are numerous other shady ones in Anhui already? I love it when people use random Chinese city names cause no one knows where they are. It's like me telling a local Chinese here that yep, I buy and sell snow down in Whitehorse, it's sweltering hot next to Cuba where Canada setup its colony back in the 1200s.... The sad things is that the media has smeared the Chinese people enough so that we believe anything they say these days. The worst offenders are inside China, the ones who write English pieces, the more they exaggerate, the more ooooOooos and Aaaahs and WOWs they get from the gwai los living in their country and shake their heads at the barbarism. Then again I could be wrong and have no pity on the kid or the parents that never spent time to teach their kid real values. |
