No doubt. The Canucks can win the president's trophy for the next 10 years, but all that would be meaningless to me if they can't ultimately win the cup.

Games like these really make me wonder how AV is able to keep his job. Once theyre down by two he tends to try one or two strategies then pack it in and gives the excuse of "the work ethic wasn't there tonight, we'll have to put this one behind us, and get focused on the next game". Does AV have any idea on how to motivate his players? To me it seems like we have Hank, Dank, Kes, and Juice who are the ones that are coaching this team.

Face it - Boston is a dirty team!

It's just too bad our pp shriveled up in the SCF, and/or Thomas turned on god mode.

I have been calling for his job for years, "oh but he won the Jack Adams" no luongo won him the Jack Adams

Must be the only coach that is consistanly out-coached year after year and keeps his job

Coach team to game 7 of Stanley Cup Final - improve team record every season since 07... yep... he's a terrible coach.

Two years in a row out-coached by Joel Quenneville

Let Chicago tie the series up after being up 3-0 and winning off a "lucky" bounce

Beating a not so good Nashville Predators team

Beating a beaten up San Jose team

Up 2 games to none, having the best home record in the league, later being up 3 games to 2, and his reaction to losing in game 7 (biggest game of his carrer) is to chew gum

good coach, keep telling yourself that

Gh0stRider 10-19-2011 09:31 AM

just heard that canucks mascot "fin" got assaulted last night on level 300. That is just fucking sad. WTF people?!

You're grasping at straws like a fat chick in a milkshake shop.

Chicago is a really crappy team. You're right. It was Quenneville who did it! Not Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa, Keith, Seabrook... it was Quenneville. AV was also most definitely on the ice to "let" Chicago tie the series.

Canucks beat the Preds, Sharks - nothing to do with the team. They were not so good and beat up! AV was not challenged.

Keeping an even keel instead of going Crawford when the chips are down? That's the sign of a losing coach. You have to go mental to be a great coach in the NHL!

Nice one! lmao

In a hockey craze market like vancouver you're always gonna have complaints, even when we are winning. No one can see eye to eye as to what is wrong. I bet you when and if we ever win the Stanley cup people would still be looking for heads to cut.

The onus is on the team itself, not the coaching. If the players really didnt like AV then they wouldn't have signed in Vancouver, saying that i believe the TEAM believes in the system that AV put forward. So I don't think the coach is to blame.

The season just started, as i was talking to my buddie yesterday about this, this is technically the regulars preseason. So chill out. We've been through the regular season roller coasters and i could care less where we finish this year cause its been proven that come playoff time, its a whole new ball game. As long as we finish 1-8 by the end of the regular season, i could care less.

You want AV to score goals to? Isn't that why the Canucks lost in the finals? Because the team couldn't score goals?

a not so good nashville team? i would say nashville each year has a pretty good team and definitely a better goalie and coach than us. considering barry trotz got his team into the playoffs every year. we could have EASILY lost in round 2 to nashville. if they had some better offence, i dont think we would have made it past them. im not taking anything away from AV here, but at the same time, he doesn't deserve the shit he gets. he's a great coach. like Nodnarb mentioned, he's improved our team each year. can't complain about that. i mean the coach will have a game plan, its up to the players to execute it.

I thought this was pretty cool, I think it might be a repost though.

Hondaracer 10-19-2011 11:41 AM

My response to the guys on the radio saying "bla bla bla luongo BUT the team needs to score goals to win"

Thats true, but how much is your motivation deflated to score a goal when Lu gives one up in a tight game where goals are hard to come by?
Posted via RS Mobile

Bonka 10-19-2011 11:47 AM

It may bother us as fans but we don't know exactly how the players feel, who are the people that matter. I'd like to think the players are mentally better than that but I imagine it would wear on them at times throughout the season given Luongo's body language on some goals..

!YaoShi 10-19-2011 11:47 AM

^ as professionals, i think they would blame themselves before they blame their goalie. I think that's where their morale drops. Not because of Luongo.

Hondaracer 10-19-2011 11:51 AM

Ever play hockey? It's not the NHL but even at 8 rinks you feel deflated when your busting your ass and control the play and then get a bad goal scored on you

Bonka 10-19-2011 11:56 AM

I played goalie. I would know. I just freak the hell out and fuck up my goal sticks..Sometimes those are the breaks.

punkwax 10-19-2011 01:25 PM

I never get upset with my goalie if he lets in a few stinkers. I've scored plenty of them in my lifetime to know that it's not exactly easy to stop a 3" puck with a 6'x4' net.

Composure. That's a good foundational skill that will benefit in any part of your life, especially in sports.
