I can't wait til October is over and we start kicking ass again so we can stop all this arguing. :) |

Whichever goalie AV chooses to go with tomorrow, I don't really want to read too much into it. But I think it will say a lot about AV. Schneider's obviously the better goalie right now, but let's see if AV has the balls to switch things up. At this point, I really don't know what to expect. Quote:

Yup, after losing in the finals and a few bad goals from Luongo, so many people were bitching that I completely forgot Luongo had 2 shutouts in that series. |
Speculation is such that Luongo will start since he's had time to reflect and think about w/e his mistakes from today were. That and it's gonna be a home game for him to redeem himself.. AND for the fans. I too, am on the side that says play whoever is performing up to standards/expectations. Whoever is helping the team win plays. That's what matters... isn't it? I wonder what Booth thinks... first game for new team... against Edmonton... and Luu gets pulled. He has no idea what how ruthless some Canuck fans can be lol |

I'll believe it when I see whoever is in net after puck drop regardless I DONT GIVE A DAMN.... If Luongo, then great! If Schnoo. Thats great too! I enjoy watching both play All eyes will be on goaltending tomorrow but if Luongo starts and he tanks it, then post game on team1040 will get ugly. Blake Price shouldnt host it. The Moj should. |
If the Canucks had won the Stanley Cup Luongo would be an MVP candidate. Oh the irony. I like the idea of going with the hot hand but when you have a goalie like Luongo and all that comes with it I wonder if that scenario would even work out for him at all. It's certainly not a rust issue nor a technical issue. He almost seems to lack any sort of urgency to perform perhaps because it's early in the season..or perhaps he thinks he won't lose his starting position..Either way he seems to need to absorb a lot of games to get his rhythm so for those who want to sit him out in October, who's to say he won't crap out the same way in November? December? I actually wonder how Luongo would fare if he abandoned his current technical style. Luongo is an instinctual goalie and over the years he has relied far more on proper mechanics and positioning because in practice he looks fabulous. However, in-game there's a certain amount of leverage where you end up abandoning taught skills to make the save and in some games, it looks like his brain just cramps up. Either way, we're pretty spoiled. We definitely don't have a goaltending problem because even if Luongo crapped the bed, we have an enviable backup in Schneider. |

It's just the way he handled the puck. It went from "around the boards" --> to his stick --> into his feet. His between the legs hand pass was just an attempt to salvage the play. Both D on the other side didn't read that Luongo would lose the puck on his legs upon stopping the puck on the boards. Quote:
It's not bandwagoning when it's the same fans that reappear the next game to watch, or attend the game to sell out the venue. (for like what, how many seasons now?) 2. You can still be a Canuck fan despite not liking 1 member of the team. Yes in this case it was Luongo. How about the fans who disliked certain other members ie. Bulis, Wellwood, etc during their tenure here. Where they unCanuck for not liking "said" players. Bandwagoning is just a "go-to" card for people who have run out of retorts and as such, really really shows how much they really know. OTOH, despite Luongo being pulled, I did like his attitude this time around. He looked pissed and seemed pretty unhappy with the turnout (since I've never seen smash his stick in half in reaction). If thats what it takes to ground the guy and reawaken the old Luongo that earned him his star status.... so be it. I can take this loss as a good thing. Hopefully. But hopefully I'm right about my read on the guy's body language. |
Lu's biggest weakness is his mental game so it's safe to say that all the negative comments from fans and media are going to have a big affect on his play. And I think it's unfair to blame Lu for all the loses, there's a lot of blame to go around for the loses so far this season like our defense hasn't exactly been great and it seems like our offensive comes alive when we're down a goal or two. The honeymoon was over when we lost game 7, Lu's going to have a rough ride in Vancouver until he wins the cup. First place finishes and general success in the post season isn't going to be enough to shut some fans up. |
I think its time to trade everyone off!!! WERE DOOOOOOMED. We're going to have to trade everybody we have for draft picks and build from Schneider out :troll: |
it's frustrating that Lu is letting in garbage goals most of the time and the fact that he's playing well below his standard. although you can pray and hope for lucky bounces and posts, but at the end of the day, Lu has got to stop the puck more often. fans and probably including myself for the most part, would over look it a bit if our offence was playing better as well. listening to team1040 after the game, there were a ton of callers commenting that they felt the team was playing sloppier in front of Lu because they expect him to stop pucks. and that the team would try harder when schneids is in net because he's the back up. i almost want to say it should be the other way around at this point. panic when Lu starts in net and play calm and worry-free when schneids is in between the pipes. |
Relax. It's still preseason. In the grand scheme of things, the regular season means nothing. |

From a value standpoint, Lu doesn't perform 10x better than Schn. But talking about salary is beating a dead horse. Posted via RS Mobile |

i had an incident with a co-worker yesterday while watching the game. it was 2nd period and we had just let in the 3-0 goal. her reaction to my displeasure was to say "well, i guess we won't be doing well this year" and i of course said "it's still early in the season, we still have a good team." she scoffed at this and i was super tempted to punch her in the head. fans like this are what i would consider a bandwagoner. doesn't watch games, doesn't keep track of the team and most importantly, writes off the entire team in the month of october.. i guarantee once playoffs start, this "fan" will be cheering on the canucks to be part of the crowd. |
Cory Schnieder and some other players could probably fetch us a power forward of some sort, even though we have Booth. We could get another defense? I'm not too sure how our cap is looking though. Our goalies are pretty good. I'm excited for Eddie Lack :D |

^those are the kinda fans i hate. A real fan wouldnt of given up on the team at all even down 3-0. I think some or most of those type of fans never succeed in anything they do cause they are quick to give up. Posted via RS Mobile |
I don't know if its just me but I cringe when I see Luongo get scored on because I get this feeling that he will let in another puck in a relatively short amount of time. Just my opinion :banghead: |
