i knew it

Noir 01-17-2012 08:47 PM

I'm starting to think a cold Schnieder might yield better chances surviving a Shootout than an even warmed up Luongo.

He did have a great regular 60 though.

DanHibiki 01-17-2012 08:47 PM

I HATE SHOOOOOTOUTSSSSSSSSS

Atleast Lu took us all the way first :troll:

Lu earned us that 1 pt, but I think Noir is on to something. While CS might be better cold in the SO, I think it shows a lack of confidence in Lu to pull him. But what the hell do I know.

civicyvr 01-17-2012 08:49 PM

Oh well. Better than last LA game.

cliffhanger33 01-17-2012 08:50 PM

not looking too great for nucks, but it was a good push, lu earned that 1 point

Hondaracer 01-17-2012 08:52 PM

there was a feature on puting cold goalies out in the SO on TSN not too long ago..

needless to say it doesnt work very well

when somone like Richards makes a shot like that, the only way any goalie whether it be Lu or a Div 8 mens league goalie stops it is by cheating on it with your glove

31 shootout losses to 24 shootout wins in his career (65 shootout goals allowed, one of the highest in the league), I sure don't have any confidence in Lu's shootout abilities.

Don't forget bout the great 5 mins in OT too

guess my earlier comment went unnoticed. i think Kes needs to be rested, he's clearly fighting some injury/discomfort.

jeedee 01-17-2012 09:44 PM

It was noticed

If he is injured, he should just rest up. We need him for April, not January. We have Hodgson who is capable of playing on the 2nd line and Manny can move back to his 3rd line role.

AzNightmare 01-17-2012 11:11 PM

Damn, just finished watching the highlights...

Raymond had a good move that almost worked, but I still think he should have performed his guarantee-to-score spinorama move.

I guess Luongo really does suck in shootouts in all type of shots...
Blows my theory out the water that Luongo was good vs shots, and weak vs dekes.

He saved the deke today, but failed on the snap shots.

All Star break can't come soon enough...

Can people stop with this shit? If Kes is injured or has a nagging injury I guarantee the doctors would not let him play. It's not the playoffs where the players are going to play through an injury.

After our dominating season last year teams are catching up. They realize its not just the Sedin's and they've all scouted our top players well. Sedin's are a bit more difficult to defend since they are more unpredictable. But with Kes its pretty easy, stop him from shooting/having a clear shot and you usually stop his line from producing. He has no playmaking vision. Kes just needs to adapt and listen to what AV says.

They were saying on the Team 1040 that it may hold 110,000 fans.

Salo needs to come back soon. :okay:

Salo needs to be traded for a physical defenceman that doesn't miss a bunch of games EVERY year due to injury. IMO his play has been sloppy and limp-wristed lately, and while he's got a great shot I think his salary could be better spent elsewhere. He's been a great Canuck but it's time to move on.

Luongo played well lastnight, the rest of the team didn't. It was pretty ugly hockey all around.

Shootout Win/Loss stats are NOT a measure of a goalie in shootouts. if a goalie makes 2 saves and lets in 1. and the shooters score 0 goals... is that the goalies fault or the shooters? you dont win a shootout with 0 goals.

by that measure would you say if a goalie can save 2/3 shots, hes doing his job reasonably well, and the shooters need to match?

the only goalie shootout stat that matters is save percentage.

i posted these stats a month ago (they may have changed slightly since):

Quote:

2011-2012 - Regular Season - All Skaters - Active Goalies - Career - Save Percentage - NHL.com - Stats

Roberto Luongo is #35 among 81 active goalies for career save percentage in the shootout at .672.

Carey Price is #34 with .678
Tomas Vokoun is #36 with .671

Lu is saving better than 2/3rds of shots faced.

RRxtar 01-18-2012 01:45 PM

just checked again. Lu and Schneider have THE EXACT SAME SAVE PERCENTAGE at .667. exactly 2/3.
