Malhotra is one of the classiest players in the league.

Shitty for the Kings they lost. That Richards-Carter combo was invisible tonight, they shouldn't have hit the Roxy last night

One more shutout for Roberto Luongo and he will have 60 in his career.

He will be just the 16th goalie in the history of the NHL to have reached 60 shutouts.

He'll join a list that includes names like Brodeur, Sawchuk, Hasek, Belfour, Roy, Esposito, and Jacques Plante.

Luongo has played 724 games so far...Patrick Roy played 1029 and had 66 career shutouts. Luongo just needs 7 more to catch him on the all time list.

If Luongo can keep averaging 4 shutouts a year for the next 3 seasons...he will be right behind Tony Esposito who had 76 career shutouts and be top ten all time.

Luongo is already tied for 2nd all time with Bernie Parent for wins in a season (Brodeur had 1 more).

As well, with tonight's win, Luongo surpasses Hall of Famer Gump Worsley for all time wins in the NHL and is 17th in history. He'll need another 20 wins to pass Rogie Vachon.

2 more 30 win seasons and Luongo will surpass Dominic Hasek and a slew of others, and move in to the top ten behind Chris Osgood and his idol Grant Fuhr. There's a strong statistical chance that Luongo becomes just the 11th goaltender in NHL history to have 400 wins.
Some interesting stats on Luongo I read on CDC! Guys been playing great, here's hoping he can keep the ball rolling through the playoffs.

If there's one thing Lu has going for him, it's that he wants to win. I know that everyone probably wants to win in the NHL but some of them appear more indifferent than others. Whenever Luongo loses, you can see how pissed he is all over his face and in his attitude.

As you can see from his stats, Lu has a shot to be one of the best goalies to ever play the game. Provided he stays away from injury, he could reach 400 by the time he's 34. Considering how many old timer goalies are playing in the league, it isn't out of the question Luongo could play til he's 40. Whether it's with the Canucks or not, he might even hit 500 wins. He just needs to stay in condition and he could play for a long ass time. With the Canucks and their trainers working as hard as they do, they could keep these guys in elite shape til their late 30s.

460 wins puts Lu 4th all time. He's got 337. 30 wins a season and that's just 4 seasons. He'll be 35-36 and already 4th all time.

If you look at the Canucks salary structure as it is now, 3 core players are signed for another 4 seasons (Kesler, Bieksa, Hamhuis) with Booth another 3. I have little doubt the Sedins will go elsewhere when their current deals are up so it isn't unreasonable to think the Canucks are pretty much like this for at least another 2-3 seasons.

Red Wings have arguably the best franchise in all of sports; they always manage to find the diamonds in the rough, and manage to develop their players to reach their full potential...

Those are nice stats. Canucks are going to be a strong team for years to come.
So there's a good chance for Luongo to reach those goals.

Of course, the grand prize of the stanley cup is never guaranteed,
and people will always have that argument, "well he has no stanley cup ring"

So until Luongo wins a cup, people are always going to
when comparing Lu to the other hall of fame goalies.

Not to take anything from Luongo and his great shutout stats, but comparing his shutouts to the eras Roy, Belfour and Hasek played in... things were quite different back then lol

It's always tricky to compare hockey players from different eras, and I think that's especially the case with goalies

I gotta be honest. I don't usually post here, as big a Canucks fan as I am, because I'm a fairly new fan of the team. I follow them religiously whether through 1040AM or online or even on my phone now. I got bored and looked through YT for Sedin moments from way back when and I found this

Why the hell do they not move like that anymore? I know it's close to a decade ago but they just look like a pale shadow of their old self now..

Sighfornotwatchingthemwhenishouldvebeenwatchingthe m.

And I forgot to add RYP! Shit that guy had hands.

Lu great and all, I guess, but I'm more excited about Schneider and how he will do. Who knows how he'll turn out over time, but right now he's on fire - performing equally as good as luigi.

Don't get too excited, he might be a superstar on another team

If so, let's hope he ends up with someone like Columbus rather than San Jose, etc (obviously they won't trade to SJ directly, but who knows how things may end up)

I have a confession to make. Just before game seven of last year's SCF, I was praying to Allah, Buddha, Jesus, Shiva, and the hockey gods that luigi would get injured in the first minute, Schneider would go in, and we win the cup.....

I say this now, because if I had said it back then, I would have been crucified - nailed to the cross.

yeah, I wasn't old enough obviously to really see the older era of goalies but I do recall a time when a gaa under 3 was considered pretty good, now if you have a 2.90 gaa you are killing your team.

Yup, the Oilers during their dynasty years had Grant Fuhr with his barely below 4.00 GAA and .880 SV%

Billy Smith was slightly better for the Islanders dynasty, with his barely below 3.00 GAA

Am I reading this right? You are saying Sedins will likely leave after their current deals are up in 2 seasons? I've not heard or read anything that remotely suggests that

I may need a grammar lesson...

I wouldn't say that is far fetched. Ultimately, it may be a GM decision and not the Sedins. IF Sedin production decline, it would be hard to justify signing them to another long-term contract unless they took a sizable pay cut? Wouldn't be much different than parting with Naslund.
