| Taking photos in glacier conditions?
Hi all!
Several friends and I are climbing Mount Ranier at the end of August. The guide company has said that no big SLR cameras are to be brought up, and thus we can only bring point n shoots. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good prosumer camera that could perhaps fit a polarizing filter? I've seen people around using tiny body point n shoots with interchangeable lenses but I haven't read up on the stuff in years. If anyone else has also had experience shooting in snow/ice under sun conditions plz gimme a shout!

If you have manual settings, you can try starting with the "Sunny 16" rule and tweak from there (Sunny 16: shutter speed 1/ISO, f/16... so for ISO 100, use shutter 1/100).
If auto-exposure only, you usually want to shoot around EV +2 for snow under bright sun, maybe only +1 if it's cloudy.

Just bring some extra batteries and keep them in a bag with those hand warmer thingy in.
The ultimate P&S? Fuji X100... even with built-in ND for those sunny days...

As for the original question, there aren't many point-and-shoots that accept a filter. If you're looking for an interchangable-lens option, check out the Panasonic GF series, the Olympus PENs, or the Sony NEXs. You could probably find a polarizer (for cheap given the thread size) on any of those guys.

X100 is nice but it's a fixed lens. I'd wanna be able to change lenses to get different shots especially when doing such a cool hike!

Lensmate ( http://www.lensmateonline.com/) makes filter adapters for some P&S cameras.
I had a Canon PowerShot S3 and their adapter for that simply fit over the lens and cliped into the body (That camera had a mount for such an adapter).
