where to buy wheel adapters locally

Most places I've checked online have 1" or 1.25" thick wheel adapters... and that's like running a 25 or 30mm spacer.

My hub is 5x114.3 and looking for adapters to fit some rims with 5x120 bolt pattern. I'd hopefully like 20mm or under thickness so my fenders don't get raped.

Any local shops that carry something like this, if not where can I buy online?

thx

^^^ lol any risk to doing this?? i believe i read somewhere that they stress the hubs a lot??

vo_hantu 06-28-2011 08:56 AM

I recommend/refer my friends to Essex Distributors on #6 for H&R/Bilstein products. Speak with Gordon. They are authorized dealer and unlike most suppliers they will get your product in short amount of time (3 days?) with no BS.

Anything with a lower offset than stock will put greater stress on your "hubs", spacers or not.

+1 for motorsport tech, they have great customer service although they have a horrible website.

I've also had no problems with the ebay 1" hubcentric adapters I had on my Z which were by far the best price. They are on my friend's Z33 now with no issues either. Just make sure you get the right one thats hubcentric for your car

I'd be more weary of the studs breaking if anything

5x114.3 to 5x120, for Toyota not BMW.

but I think 19mm or 20mm should do, thanks.

when installing the 19mm, that will mean you will have to cut your original studs, no?

wat...

the adapter bolts on to your original studs

TouringTeg 06-29-2011 08:44 AM

Yes but the factory studs may protrude out further than the mounting pad of the spacer.

If you don't have pockets in the back of the wheels, you may have to cut the factory studs down. A more expensive option is have to pockets machined into the mounting pads of the wheels.

If you go under 1", you'll likely have to cut your wheel studs so the wheel can fit the spacer.

Rich Sandor 06-29-2011 09:19 PM

and when you put them on, make sure they are on PERFECT. Remember you have twice as many lugnuts to worry about now.

adaptors are ok on a street ride.. but if you drive hard/track the car: forget about it.
