BC Medical Services Plan Invoice ?

Today I just received the BC Medical services plan invoice from my mailbox stating the total amount due is $60.50

I have been a student in the past 2 years and so does now, where my annual income is $0

So I called in and the lady said I need to pay in full amount for the medical services plan, but as far as I remember low income like me is 100% covered?

Please advise

Did you just turn 19? When you turn 19, they take you off your parent's plan. If you are a full-time student between 19-24, your parents have to send in an application to have you covered as a dependent.

tell them you're a full time student, and that you think you'll take another... 3 years to graduate (or whatever the max years u can push it to).

they didnt start charging me medical service plan till this year and im 28 LOL! havent been in school for years. zing.

when they called me i told em i was a student and that im poor. and they asked me how long i think it'll take till i graduated. i just straight up was like, how many years can u tack on to this? and she gave me a number and i just simply replied that number.

you can go thier website and fill out a form. Then you have to sign it and mail it in. If you have paid already they will send you a remittance check automatically. You do not have to request it.

Yeah I got fucked. Made killer money last year, but now I'm unemployed and back in school. I am still getting dinged $60.50 every month (the highest MSP premium) because of what I made last year.

op i believe on the back of the invoice it breaks down what income levels are chared what...and its based on your last years income. if ur able to get t waived, great. if not, dont let them keep billing u for more than like 6 months without u paying or else itll go to collections which might affect your credit score

Same thing happened to me a couple years back. I had to fill out a form they sent me, sign it and mail it back. Then I have to mail in a copy of my notice of assessment for the tax year you turned 19, proving you are low income, etc.

I see your 1600, and raise you the same thing, only half of it being my ex-girlfriend.

Paying off my own? Ouch.

Paying one more thing for the ex? FML

Yeah me too, except I didn't actually get an invoice. Instead I got daily calls from a collection agent 2 years later.

You have to sign up for 'premium assistance' or 'fair pharmacare' whatever they call it now.

You don't have to pay. Just fill out this form and send it in.

Also keep in mind, your student loans and stuff DO count as income.

You need to fill out the form and send it in. If you ignore MSP they'll screw you over when you do have income.

Actually they don't, however the grants associated with the student loans do.

For example, in my case because I am in the lowest income bracket, I qualify for a $1000 grant with my student loans each and every semester. At the end of the year I receive a T4A from NSL stating $3000 in income, the actual loan portion is not calculated as income.

Regardless, the OP needs to sign up for BC Premium Assistance.

You will be fine but you need to resolve it before tax time.

1) Call MSP and tell them your case.
2) They will redirect you to a form (essentially it allows msp to review ur tax return from 2 years ago to check your income)
3) fax the form in.
4) your charge will be reversed with any interest
5) file a tax return every year

speaking from experience . As long as you make less than $23,000 per year on line 101 (or 150 - can't remember) of your tax return - your coverage is 100%.
