Dealership damaged my rims So long story short, the dealer scratched/damaged not 1, but all FOUR of my rims either with a nick, paint chip, or scratches on the rims while replacing my tires under warranty. The car is brand new, i only had the car for 1 month and 10 days exactly, the rims r optional 19" from the factory at extra cost. I will be heading to the dealership later on today to talk to the service manager about this, they do not know about the damages yet as i got my car back on the weekend. I inspected the car on the spot but since i told them specifically NOT to wash my car, the wheels were covered in the wheel lube thus hid the damages on the rims. I will see what they will do about this, but any ideas on what i should do or be asking for? I highly doubt they will give me 4 new rims, and i have a feeling if they are going to do anything about it, they will just send it out to get it refinished which i dont want to since it'll never look the same. Pictures and the whole story will be posted later when i get home. |
pretty much if you drive off the lot your SOL |
If you have pictures of the car before you went in for service that could help. Other then that it's going to be your word against theirs. Play a polite ethical game, try not to yell or raise your voice and hopefully if they are an honorable dealership they will take care of all your damages and fix your rims to new or replace them. |
I doubt you can tell the difference after they refinish them. Posted via RS Mobile |
^ the question is will the dealership pay for refinishing of the rims... |
Take some pictures and post it up here! |
Got my rims refinished. All four lips on black/red Volk's Time Attacks. Cost over $700.00 and that was lips ONLY. Excellent job though can't tell there were any marks at all. |

i will take some pictures of the damage later before i head over to the dealership |
Dude, fight it, I'm currently fighting Honda for scratching my hood. Make them agree to replace them. Just wondering, which dealership was this? Posted via RS Mobile |
here r the pics of all the damages on all 4 rims some damages r hard to capture on the camera, and they all look worst in person than in the pics http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/8297/img2269ep.jpg http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/708/img2272jd.jpg http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/3924/img2274a.jpg http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/7492/img2276h.jpg http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/9352/img2279a.jpg http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/9726/img2281z.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/6900/img2282y.jpg http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/1133/img2283c.jpg http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/9088/img2284y.jpg http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/6881/img2285w.jpg http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9159/img2286nu.jpg http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/8100/img2288w.jpg as u can see, all the damages r limited to the face of the rim, so it has to be done during mounting and dismounting of the tires, the two chip marks on the inner barrel must've been done when they were prying out the old weights because there was tape residue right beside it and most of the damages r pretty deep as i can catch it with my finger nail for some odd reason all the rims HAD silver over spray on them when i picked up the car, when i pointed it out to the sales person he said it must be the lighting so i gave him the benefit of doubt since it was night time when i picked up the car http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/20/img2270md.jpg i am heading off to the dealership now to see what they say and the dealership will remain nameless until the issue is resolved. the long story of how it all happened will be posted when i get home afterwards with an update. |
Damn seeing all those knicks makes me hesitant to let the dealership handle my aftermarket wheels.. |

Wow, I'd be pretty pissed if this happened to me too. Good luck man, hopefully they are fair and understand that "they" did it and not "you" |
if its a dealership, you're pretty much limited to a few....parkshore, BJ or autowest... but, honestly, your nicks are nothing....a polishing compound and probably 20mins of work will get rid of them. Save you a headache and a potential arguement. I will bet the farm that the dealership will not refinish ur rims for the damages in the pics you posted. |
Update: all 4 rims n tires were replaced, not repaired/refinished Posted via RS Mobile |
^Good to hear! |
wow they agreed to replace all 4 rims too? good stuff! since this is settled, i am a little curious as to which dealership this is? |
^ +1 I'll be sure to buy a BMW from this dealer in the future since they're honest. |
Good outcome for you! What dealership is this? |
Wow, this dealership will get my monies, when I can afford a BMW in a million years... |
i had the same problem before, keep on fighting it and make sure your on their asses and go to the general manager or even contact the owner if you can, bcus thats what i did and got what i wanted. |
