didn't show up for court in WA

I had a court date near Seattle today for a 101 in a 70 zone speeding ticket.

basically didn't show up.

I wanted to resolve the ticket and pay the 300 bucks, or $350 since there is a $50 fee for not showing up.

Will I get a letter stating when I need to pay by right away?
I'll be in and out of the U.S. often during July/August and don't want to get cuffed at the border lol.

anyone have experience or some info? thx

How about contacting the court where you didn't show, and they have issued an arrest warrant for you, and ask them how to pay so you won't spend a weekend with Bubba? Heck, the stronger Cdn dollar means you geta 3% discount anyway.

well that was the first thing I tried, for a couple hours.

The court has an automated line with a bunch of crap and can't even talk with anyone.

I ended up sending an e-mail requesting for them to contact me via phone.

In the WA State, if you don't show up for a scheduled court date without being excused, you will be charged with contempt of court/failure to appear which in most cases the judge will issue a bench warrant for you, once the bench warrant is approved by the court it allows law enforcement to arrest you on the spot.

A contempt of court/failure to appear charge will like carry additional fines as well, so you will need to contact the court to figure out what fines you will need to pay on top and if you will need to appear before the court on the failure to appear charge.
