Why China...why do you have to suck so much?

I seriously don't understand how China isn't embarrassed about shit like this. I'm not talking about this, really...but in general the fact that China will do whatever it takes to make an extra dollar whether it's copying a cartoon so they don't have to pay licensing or making counterfeit baby formula...since there's apparently more profit in it. Who cares about dying babies anyways?

You can say these are isolated incidents but c'mon...

SFUguy 07-17-2011 09:09 PM

that's an improvement.

the china's one has 3D graphics. the original one doesn't.

we're comparing 30-in-1 nintendo cartridges to regular nintendo cartridges.

You must be joking.

The 3D graphics in the China cartoon look like they were done by any entry level animator at BCIT. Hell, given some time, I'm almost sure I could duplicate it myself even though my experience is sort of elementary. Not only is the 3D terrible, you can tell they either cheaped out or got lazy on certain scenes. The Japan original has far more detail. Hell, look at the kid talking at 1:16. He has a reflection in the original. In the China version, you just see the back of his head.

The Japanese original looks like it could possibly be hand drawn. Sort of unlikely if it's a modern anime but still, you can tell it's done with more care and detail.

You must be one of those idiots that spends the extra $3 on every movie because you think 3D is always better, aren't you?

SkinnyPupp 07-17-2011 09:38 PM

The reason they do this is because there is a strict limit on how much foreign media can be shown in China. Especially from Japan, as you can imagine, and especially on kids/animated shows. The only way sometimes, to get these shows into China is to just copy them 1:1 with their own version.

WOW 3-D GRAPHICS BRO, China really 1-upped the animation world!

Aside from the whole slew of obvious "problems", wouldn't it be less work just to loosen the limit?

NiceRicer 07-17-2011 09:48 PM

i find this one really cool too.

It's far more important to control every second of media that is shown, than it is to be efficient. Besides, with their population, the more work the better!

SFUguy 07-17-2011 10:30 PM

At 1:46 there is lens flare in the chinese one and the japanese one doesn't have it.

there were other cartoons that they copied too was on the news a few months back

I am in China right now, and according to the news, coles notes below:

Animation companies are subsidized according to the number of "minutes" produced per month, eg, 1,000 minutes per month = 1000 CAD per minutes from the government;

one of the biggest animation companies in the North has a fucked up CEO, orders interns to produce 22,000 minutes per month (unrealistic even by Chinese standard), and instructed the interns to copy anything they can get theirs hands on FRAME BY FRAME to reduce work time;

Once the he receives the money from their "works", interns are dismissed and unable to find work because of their "work experiences" relating to this particular company

CEO is currently claiming that everything is "original" and people should STFU.

They released their own Kung-Fu Panda 2 weeks before the real Kung-Fu Panda 2 came out. It broke box office records for animated film (so they say).

Yup, it's called "Legend of Rabbit". The villain is a panda. It's not a frame by frame copy obviously, but it's clearly a direct ripoff
