i heard the high speed rail has been plagued with issues since it was introduced (they were just talking about it, again, a few days ago
from all the problems it sounded like this was more than likely to happen and soon you could say this was expected but saving face likely prevented them from shutting things down
China has millions of brilliant people, and some of the world's most amazing engineers. But their organization is horrible when it comes to things like this. The newest things look a million years old there.
Meanwhile, in almost 50 years, and 7 billion passengers (yes billion); the High Speed Rail system in Japan has yet to experience a single fatality due to derailment or collision.

That's why I buy Toyota/Nissan/Honda
Toyota huh?
Quote:
Toyota said Thursday it is recalling more than 2.3 million vehicles in the United States and Canada to fix accelerator pedals that can become stuck, the latest in a string of quality problems that have bedeviled the Japanese automaker.
well..issues with the toyotas are not mechanical...its just the way they designed the floor mats which are really sticky..regardless, japanese and euro cars are the best in the world

I was just teasing =)
all the new cars these days are pretty well built imo. (except the hyndai accent, that thing is garbage)
in japan they didnt have that issue, just the cars made here and after a thorough investigation they didnt find any fault on toyota... just the owners who like putting floormats piled 3 high

Really? Only the floor mats? So repairing all those electronic throttle pedals that were sticking or slow to return was done by Toyota "just for fun"?
sorry ur right, shouldnt have been so blunt in defending it. yes there was a problem with the north american pedals and it was needed to be repaired. i worked at a dealership during when that issue came out and alot of the time the people who complained their pedal was sticking had floormats that blocked the pedal from depressing properly
edit: i also dont have a problem with german cars if it appears that way, im just clarifying that that they've done an investigation and found that not all accidents that we're presumed to be caused by toyota's drive by wire system were infact not

Yes, Japanese quality is good no doubt. But so many Japanese stuff are made in China nowadays its kinda pointless to argue. My girlfriend always say her country's stuff are high quality until I showed her the back of the stuff in Daiso... all made in China.

It seems like China actually decided to cut the hanging train lose but they didn't really do a close inspection whether there were people in there or not.
You can see people falling at 0:09 and 2:56
And what I don't understand is they actually buried the train wrecks?!?! Aren't they suppose to conduct extensive studies with them to determine the exact cause of the incident?!?
I know for sure I won't be taking any high speed train next time I'm in China.

u know that stuff made in china for japan is higher quality than other countries???
maybe its due to shipping costs..but if u compare same stuff, made in china, bought in japan to bought in canada. ull see the diff.
Why the tits are they burying the wreck? A little melting down and some TLC, and they've got themselves a new replacement train. The old one was probably made of recycled bits of old train to begin with.

That is true some of the time, have you ever wondered why? The Japanese insist of quality even if it cost more to make in China, they still make more profit due to cheap labor. Other country may be willing to forgot a % of quality to maximize profit by opting for cheaper alternatives.
Also, not everything made in Japan is high quality. There are many American manufacturer that produces higher quality parts compare to Japanese makers in the auto industry.
China can make quality goods or horrible crap. Its up to the quality control or company. My Playstation 3 is made in China and it works fine as if new. Xbox360 are made in China too but they have a higher failure rate.
this was human error and bad system design. The first train got hit by lighting and stalled, the attendant didn't radio in to the station behind to warn the upcoming train. Then again they should have some sort of safety system where they detect the proximity of trains, if 1 is close to you within a certain distance, there should be auto warnings and slow downs.
