i live at brentwood gates too and finally got novus so much better, had telus before and it sucked i paid cheaper with novus and get faster internet. and customer service at telus sucks.

novus all the way if i haven't said so already in this thread. anytime there is downtime for maintenance, they email you with at least a weeks notice of it. and it happens between 12am-4am usually.

Bullshit. I use a PVR that was originally a Shaw box, which was reprogrammed for use on Novus, and was then brought back to Shaw.

Once I plugged the box in, I just forced it to download the Shaw firmware. Power + Select + plug-in the power cable. Once it was done downloading, called Shaw to have it refreshed.

Newer boxes, like DCX3400 / 3200, will require a call to get a download command sent.

i thought shaw had a policy to not import outside boxes anymore? used to for sure but not sure anymore.

novus is offering new subscribers in my building crazy deals on 100Mbps internet, free hd pvr's plus they will reprogram my old pvr to work on their network and home phone with more features then i'm getting currently with shaw for a lot less then i'm currently paying? i've also found article from the cbc saying that shaw is doing everything they can to undercut novus' prices and match offers and ish.

so, to novus or not to novus?

novus aparently has really good sutomer service and i havn't found a bad review yet.

this is not even a debate, go with Novus! a lot of people I know are trying to lobby for novus to come to their buildings.

they are owned by one of the developers (concorde? or concert or something like that) so those buildings are setup already.

I hate dealing with retentions and all that BS, just go with Novus and you're good to go.

They do but if have the box orginally form Shaw then they have to re-activate in their system. However the new models such is DCX 3510 and DCX 3200 Phase 2 have Sha's custom firmware on it and it will only work on Shaw.

Novus! Why you no Richmond ?!!?!

Yodamaster 09-07-2013 05:54 PM

Novus ftw

Graeme S 09-07-2013 07:17 PM

If I could Novus, I would. In a heartbeat.

My ex had Novus in her condo downtown and their connection speeds and all that were awesome. And it was crazy cheap too.

RTS 09-09-2013 05:08 AM

Novus is awesome.

FerrariEnzo 09-09-2013 07:33 AM

Novus would never be available for houses, stuck with robelus.. and shaw isnt that much cheaper... :okay:

N8 09-09-2013 09:53 AM

I've had novus for almost two years and it's been a great for residential internet. Shaw had more problems but that is when I used to live in the hood.

Tapioca 09-09-2013 01:31 PM

The one advantage of living in a shoebox is that we get access to Novus while all of you "suckers" in detached homes are stuck with Shaw and Telus.

Customer service is very good (I've been on hold a maximum of 5 minutes in the 5+ years I've had the service) and speeds are always consistent. The only downside is that there is a hard cap and if you go over, you need to pay more or have your speed decreased.

Does novus tv have picture-in-picture tv guide, like telus?

telus customer service sucks and its only an eventuality that you would have to call and deal with them, so why bother?. Shaw is much better in terms of customer service but if you can get novus do it because the service is pretty solid that i never even have to deal with them for technical support.
