Not sure how much they are now, but Walmart had some 1 1/2 ton low profile racing jacks on sale for around $60 IIRC a few months ago.
They are very similar to the ones at Harbour freight but in black.
The 2 1/2 ton one was $89 I think.

I don't see it on their canadian website but they do have some listed on their US site.

2 1/2 is overkill for any cars anyone here drives.

i'm more concerned about looking for a light weight jack that lifts 19-21 inches off the ground :)

are you taking it to the track (would you want aluminum) or is it just for home use (steel is fine)?

just looking for something that's easy to move around for use at home. i currently have a free one from a friend that's heavy as hell and leaking fluid.

then order the harbour freight one and have them ship it to blaine/pt. roberts if you don't want to drive to bellingham. It lifts very high at least 18" and lowest setting is 3.5'' so it will fit under most lowered cars.

its a solid jack, but its a pain to carry up and down stairs and thats what i have to do because i live on a hill. great awkward workout though

Just by looking at the weight load.. yes; but heavier rated jacks usually come with nicer features like dual pistons and release valve that are in the handles... not to mention they are usually wider and more stable.

Can you be more vague? KMS sells more than 1 type of jacks!

Yeah, but you're never lifting the whole thing. You have to look at it from 1/4 or 1/2 of your weight at most.

As for the Harbour Frieght jack, it has dual pistons and a built in release on the handle. Very light and sturdy. I lock tightend all the bolts on it as that's what usually breaks.

for you i would say make a trip to bellingham and stop at harbor freight. they have iirc 5 aluminum jacks ranging in size. you can play with them and pick the one that suits you best. for the price you can't beat it. quality is sometimes an issue but for the price you could just buy another IF it ever fails.

Agreed. I picked one up and it's definitely not the greatest. Better than what I had before this but I'm in the same boat as you.

Yeah, and? They go for $69 right now on sale. At the end of the day it's $10-$20 and when you need a jack you need a jack. Can't sit around all your life waiting for things to go on sale or a coupon to come out. Easily worth the $89 I spent on it, if I could have gotten it cheaper, great. But no biggie.

For the record, it's on sale this weekend for $69 right now according to my flyer.

If my memory is correct, if you ever check in the back of a car magazine such as car and driver, they will always have the coupon for that @ the price of 59 dollars

Can anyone tell me if the lifting base of this Harbour Freight Jack is at least 3" wide?
I have one of these jack adapters but my current jack is too small for it.
I'm pretty sure I'd buy one if everything fits.

I bought a low pro jack at crappy tire, works very well for my car and other sedans, but at full lifted height, it cant even lift the wheels of my dads suv more than an inch. any recommendations for a jack that lifts higher?

The best way is to take the adaptor to Harbor freight and try.

In the pic, the lip around the lift pad looks really shallow.. I would be wary using the adaptor with it.. it will hold, but the problem is always with sudden shift of weight which makes everything go to hell.

For my X5s I use an old school Michelin 2.5ton iron one from Crappy tire.. even with 18-19" rims I can get at least 4-5" off. With these things so cheap these days, it doesn't hurt to have a few around.

With respect to the concern with sudden shift of weight, I hear ya.

For what it's worth, the jack adapter is made and sold by Flyin' Miata, in my opinion one of the best Miata shops in North America, they race what they sell and it's designed to save time as the car can be jacked up right in the middle, allowing access to both tires at once. When the jack is underload the friction force should be enough to hold the adapter in its place. Countless people have used it on autoX and track days all over North America and to the best of my knowledge, what you describe hasn't happened yet, tho it remains a possibility. I thank you for sharing your concern with me, but I really wish to put it to good use since I received it as a gift from my buddy, and my crappy tire jack has a lifting base far too small for it.

It was 89.99 it was on the cover of the harbor freight flyer i got on monday, so i dont think its currently on sale for less. In any case id rather have gotten it while i was already in bellingham than waste my time trying to save another $20.
