can't go wrong with blue cross. its usually a bit more expensive, but when i punch in my employer's insurance policy, i get an additional 30% off.

depending on what your Visa is, they may have full coverage for a certain amount of days out of country already

Infinite Avion has 15 days unlimited coverage with no deductable, etc. and you can buy extended coverage for dirt cheap

I've always gone with RBC for travel medical insurance for my folks. They've been the cheapest I've found so far compared to TD, BCAA, etc.

I get the annual travel insurance @ bcaa.
I think it's like $50 for the year for 3 day trips? Any longer and you just pay for an upgrade.

you can get it at almost any insurance office.

i looked up a quote for you anyways; with 6 days (i added another day to include flight)
for single trip, emergency hospital & medical travel insurance, (i random guessed your age as 26), it came out to be $16.17 tax included.

if anybody asks, my quote is from TIC.

definitely check out your credit card coverage too, for additional insurance.

The one drawback of credit card insurance is you have to call BEFORE you go to the hospital or receive medical help. Only then will they fullfill your claim after they direct you to the closest medical facility.

The only exception to that rule is you have to require immediate medical attention that can not be reasonably possible to call first.

London drugs and Blue cross has always been my go to places, more out of convenience than price. Usually the insurance your employer uses sometimes have discounts. I've heard RBC travel insurance can be a hassle when claiming but can't confirm those assertions.

I went with BCAA online a few times, It's nice because I can do it from home. But my new cc has it built in. So i use that now.

Check Langara's insurance program you might have paid into. They have travelers insurance I believe.

I believe in order for the CC coverage, you have to book the trip with the CC

Check your CC, also if you have BCAA you may be covered through that.
Also if you have any extended healthcare you may be covered through that as well (I was pleased to find out I am through Green Shield AND my credit card).

Good for you! Just wondering, if you have two coverages like that, who are you supposed to contact first? It would suck if you required emergency medical assistance and the two companies are fighting who should be footing the bill

I usually buy from RBC. It can be more worthwhile to buy for a year rather than a week or a few days.
