When I was doing my apprenticeship at BCIT, I saw tons of people over 28 years old. I don't think it's too late, but I do think you will be financially hindered until you're really finished school.

However, the tables will turn later on when you've landed that job that pays 4x more than your last, and they're still making $18/hr.

It'll look more like this.

You: Hey man, wanna take a trip down to California for a week?
Them: What? California?! Nah man I cant afford to do that!
You: Oh...ok

You got Executives going back to school for their MBAs. Doctors taking courses to update their skills. Professionals supplementing their attributes for upcoming projects. They are people in their 30s/40s/50s/60s.

It's never too late man.

For entertainment purposes

Don't forget that applying for dental school is very difficult to get in. Unless, you have the grades to get in (80+ minimum), I wouldn't bank a whole career change on it. Just something to think about I guess.

If you get into Dental school, it is a guaranteed solid salary for life. Do it. My friend graduated at 29 from Dentistry. Before she graduated she had $800 in her bank account. Her first pay check was close to $20K.
Granted she owes $100k or so, but you get the picture.
