Then again, this beta is only 1% of the full game so far so can't really judge the feeling. Doesn't give me much hype for the game anymore though..D2 still does and is awesome.
I think the problem is that they streamlined and simplified WAY too much now so that gear is really the only important factor between characters. I think this was intentional so that gear because even more sought after (with real money using the bnet store).

I will still buy it though, all blizzard games are insta-purchase for me now

In announcing a small profit on lower revenue compared to a year ago, Activision Blizzard said that it does not anticipate any release from its Blizzard Entertainment subsidiary in the first quarter, which ends March 31. Blizzard created the World of Warcraft series Diablo and Starcraft. Late last year, it announced a delay of Diablo III into "early 2012."

However, Blizzard also said that "calendar year 2012 outlook anticipates two releases from Blizzard Entertainment." In November, the company expressed similar goals, but said that its 2012 releases included "a minimum" of two releases.

Activision Publishing also plans to release a new Call of Duty game, grow its Call of Duty Elite online service, and launch Skylanders Giants, a new game. In March, Activision expects to release the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection, a compilation of content previously released to Call of Duty Elite premium members, on Microsoft's Xbox 360, it said.

"Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft maintained its leadership position as the number-one subscription-based MMORPG around the world and Activision Publishing's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the number-one selling game," Bobby Kotick, Activision Blizzard's chief executive, said in a statement. "Skylanders Spyro's Adventure was the biggest new IP launch in Activision's history and it is on track to become an important and sustainable franchise. We launched our online service, Call of Duty Elite, which is one of the fastest growing premium online services ever created."

According to NPD, Activision Publishing was the top console and handheld publisher in the U.S. and Europe for the fourth quarter of 2011 and the number-one console and handheld publisher in the U.S. for the calendar year. As of Jan. 31, more than 7 million gamers registered for the Call of Duty Elite, including more than 1.5 million premium annual memberships.

The company's World of Warcraft MMORPG, the world's largest according to its own assessments, counted 10.2 million subscribers as of Dec. 31.

But the company also changed how it accounted for online revenue; in the third quarter, online subscriptions were counted as a separate item. Then, the company pulled in $274 million from all World of Warcraft products, including subscriptions, boxed products, expansion packs, licensing royalties, and value-added services.

But for the fourth quarter, that category now includes subscriptions and memberships, licensing royalties, value-added services, downloadable content, digitally distributed products, and wireless devices. In total, that category earned $363 million.

thing is, the bits in the d3 beta we get to play probably won;t even be in the final released version like they did before. They take you off course of whats actually in the game so you will be surprised. They are adding in chat channels like D2. No more WoW chat type style. Also, this video shows how difficult the game will be compared to D2.

You Will Die. We Promise. - Diablo III

Time for the regular news update about Diablo 3 delays..

Diablo III Set for Second Quarter 2012 Launch - PC News at IGN

On a conference call for Activision Blizzard's fourth quarter 2011 earnings, CFO Thomas Tippl said two Blizzard titles are expected in 2012, including Diablo III. Blizzard had previously announced that Diablo III was meant to be released in early 2012. In a press release, Activision Blizzard reported that "the company's first quarter 2012 does not incorporate a new release from Blizzard Entertainment."

This pushback is in line with recent revelations that the Diablo III team is still making quite a few changes to the game that could further extend its development time beyond early 2012. Blizzard's president Mike Morhaime confirmed that Diablo III won't be ready until the second quarter of 2012, and more news will be available within the coming weeks.

In addition to Diablo III, Blizzard is currently developing StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, Blizzard DOTA, World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria, a "Next-Gen MMO", and is exploring a possible console version of Diablo III.

Tippl stated that there's still a possibility Blizzard could release more than two titles in 2012, but the official line is two titles for now. Knowing Blizzard's history and "it'll be done when it's done" approach to development, it's a safe bet that Blizzard won't release more than two.

wouldn't be surprised by a june-july release i'm sure they'd want to get out the WoW panda expo before D3 to milk out wow revenues before it dies.

If anyone is wondering about those layoffs.. I read that it's mostly WoW CS staff since they had about 4000 WoW CSRs in 11 different cities..

Sure. You know what this really means though right?

That they're kinda almost maybe possibly could be almost possibly maybe probably just about ready to release.. soon. Ish.

Actual release date: October 22nd, 2012. Which is still good news though =)
