The 1 billion dollar house is in a really shitty (literally) place, too. It needs all those amenities, since they won't be strolling around the neighborhood, that's for sure.

Thats cheating. I bet Louis XIV at Versailles didn't have a palace that was in reality a fancy apartment.

That's disgusting.

Building a monument to wealthy decadence in the middle of one of the poorest places in the world?

It's kind of ironic that he compared it to Versailles... I wonder if his wife will stand on the balcony and say 'Let them eat cake' too.

All that for a family of 5?!? And why does anyone need a house 570 feet high? Ridiculous.

A member from another forum who lives in India posted a story about a Indian King who's people had suffered drought for a number of years. He decided to give them food and water. His people refused. Instead they built him a palace and them took food and money for payment. I think the palace still stands in some form in India today.

Unlike Sheiks in the middle east who import materials and workers from around the world, 90+ % of the materials and labor used in this house come from India. Mukesh Ambani basically dumped a huge amount of money into the Indian economy and has provided 600+ people with jobs. Ambani holds a lot of meeting at his house eith people from around the world and is showing what Indian companies can do.

The house was designed by Chicago architecture firm Perkins + Will.
