I hope I can do something for him

Where's the story behind the picture?

Not to say anything bad because it's sad to see any child in a situation like that but right now with the East Africa Famine is beyond a epidemic and a lot of the resources should be focused on them.

It really hurts to see that.. the gap between the rich and poor is huge.. Chinese are too selfish.

tiger_handheld 08-03-2011 09:22 PM

this belongs in the "powerful pictures thread"

Hondaracer 08-03-2011 09:22 PM

And what do you do to help the ones in need?

Ronin 08-03-2011 11:26 PM

There's poverty everywhere. Do you cry every time you see the infomercials for African kids?

I'm a member of world vision. I'm more happy donating money to help these children rather then spending money on technology.

You come here and say it hurts to see the gap between the rich and poor and then make a bold statement that Chinese are too selfish. You then back it up by saying you are a member of world vision and happy to donate money to these children.

You also have another thread of you wanting to buy a 2002 M5 for 21k. Why not buy a cheap civic and donate the rest of the money to that one single boy in the picture?

Of course not. People are selfish, everyone is. You take care of your own needs first before others. Yes it's cruel, but it's the facts of reality. There will always be poor people and will always be rich people. I am sure to this one boy's eyes, a E39 M5 would make you look like a billionaire and if you had a civic and a poor african child saw you driving it, he would think you were a god.

At least those kids have shirts and pants... some people don't even have that

Glove 08-04-2011 08:15 AM

owned

Death2Theft 08-04-2011 08:21 AM

No idea what the pic is from, but i sure feel worse for the chinese kid where a family is only allowed to raise one and this happens to them. Compared to a buncha rabbits out there in Africa churning them out like human xerox machines without any care or thought on how to raise them.

If you want to blame, blame the China Gov. They would rather spend billions and billions to make the country look good on the outside while ingoring the lifestyle of billions of Chinese in China. Life is cheap in China so unless the Gov change there is nothing we can do.

Haven't you heard what happen to China Red Corss? There have been reports and some question descions made by China Red Cross so they decided to post how much people donate and where it was used at. Funny thing is on that reported they posted online said Jackie Chan donate 4 times and each time he donate 1penny O_o Jet lee donated 0 penny. But in reality these people prolly donate at least several hundred thousdand of dollars.

So yea really mess up.

Your grasp on China is almost as strong as your grasp on the English language.

Right and spending billions and billions in military instead on the people in need is the right thing to do. Put anyone who talks about freedom in jail is always justify. When lawyers have to renew their liscense every year and the dept in charge of that is from the gov will surely justify every case in court.

Yup China is sure a great country to live in.

Yes, you are right. Everyone is selfish, if a person couldn't even help him/herself how can he/she help others? There are different levels of selfishness, i bought an e39 but i'm still donating to world vision monthly.

You also mentioned "Why not buy a cheap civic and donate the rest of the money to that one single boy in the picture". I did my part to help the children living in third world countries. Even if i donate my all assets, one man power will not do much. What builds a community is you and I.

That's great for you, so you take care of your needs and then donate probably $300 a month to sponsor one kid?

While that "selfish" Chinese guy who is super rich (something you are against since you want to close the gini coefficient) has a factory where they employ 100+ workers who are all given money to work. Not only that, most factories in China provide dormitories and free meals. But hey, that guy providing jobs and economic growth is an asshole in your eyes, just because he is filthy rich, and you are just a rich.
