Ya they went with the new re-launch version of Superman from the comics.

I don't like the costume. The things above his hips. Is that even remotely canon?

But then again, I've seen worse. A hell of a lot worse.

I like this one with Russell Crowe (as Jor-al) better.

The quote is straight from the comics btw.

There is just such a rush right now for Nolan-esque style superhero as tortured man, super realistic films that it doesn't matter if they made a movie 2 decades, 2 years or 2 minutes ago.

Eventually it will burn out, and someone will need to come up with a new take, and they'll pimp it out all over again.

Keep in mind, that although dated now, the Tim Burton Batman was epic in terms of his take on the character keeping the comic book element in play. I suspect that someone will come up with a 'new' way to integrate the comic element and re-hatch the whole thing one more time.

Agreed. I think this trend will carry on for a while, it's a great formula, perfect for this generation.

I think the best character to reinvent comic book to movies is Deadpool. It can be shot in a sort of campy way and still be true to the comic.

Sorry for back to back post.

As per the new Supe movie, I was hoping they'd go in another direction. It'd be great if the movie starts of with a battle scene in the heart of metropolis with Doomsday "killing" Superman. The whole movie can revolve around the flashback and the eventual return of superman in the final act.

Saw the trailer at TDKR last night..really cool how they put it together.

beanzzz 07-23-2012 06:03 AM

Meh, the teaser made me think I was watching a commercial for Discovery's Deadliest Catch. Wish they showed the Comic Con trailer instead.

ApePee2 07-23-2012 06:50 AM

Hah, i thought it was a sequel of some sort to the guardian movie after seeing kevin costner in it.

Looks promising though.

Bearded, on fire, superman is best superman

Looks like Jonathan Kent's "maybe" line is causing quite a stir among the fanboys

^^^ yeah I'm not pleased with that line either, Pa Kent is supposed to be what makes superman good (the whole fight for truth, justice, etc line)

got to say i wasn't the least bit excited for the film but now :fullofwin:

european 12-12-2012 09:45 AM

yes imo all these live-action or remakes should evoke the original emotions somehow... and the best way of doing it is usually with original music or a simple short melody plug in the movie somewhere.
