guys see these movie clips

wouldnt watch it if you're worried about seeing too much of the movie

DanHibiki 06-11-2013 02:58 PM

Looks like its official that man of steel is gonna kick start the justice league movie and the DCU. Much like ironman did for the avengers and the MCU.

Exciting times!

worse than expected. but not too bad.

i wouldn't know how to pull it off any better so... i can't really criticize it.

StylinRed 06-18-2013 04:26 AM

yeah my feeling that it wasn't a superman movie (from the trailers) seemed to be right

better than Returns i guess kinda

SkinnyPupp 06-18-2013 04:29 AM

Stylin I'm surprised you watched the movie for more than 10 minutes with all that lens flare... when I was watching it I just pictured you walking out after throwing your popcorn at the screen :lawl:

StylinRed 06-18-2013 06:18 AM

lol I was more distracted by emo superman that thinks it's a good idea to knock down skyscarpers

stuff99 06-18-2013 10:58 PM

I enjoyed the movie a lot. Don't get why Fast 6 had a better rotten tomatoes rating than man of steel.

broken_arrow 06-18-2013 11:04 PM

Too much flying through skyscrapers for me. It got really annoying and boring after a while. I was disappointed tbh. 7/10. Fast 6 is still my movie of the summer (and The Great Gatsby :D)

RT is garbage. Especially after this, I won't trust any of their ratings. That site is full of hipster critics who want comedy and romance in every movie. Pretty sure most of the critics compared this movie to the original Donner films and didn't review this movie face value. Seemed like they looked for things they hated about this movie and not what they enjoyed. I mean this film was way better than most of the phase 1 Avengers films but the score is half as good on RT.

I really enjoyed this. I love the fact that the trailers didn't expose any of the Krypton scenes. Those scenes itself made the movie for me. I was blown away, especially with
Spoiler!

The CGI fest was great!

I can see how the ending dragged on. I left midway through the action in the end and came back a few minutes later feeling like I didn't miss anything.

rice cooker 06-19-2013 12:02 AM

if u want a honest review, google man of steel reviews, skip the actual reviews, scroll down and read the comments lol

Spartacus 06-19-2013 05:52 PM

Solid 8/10. Love krypton scenes! Crazy Super saiyen style fights!

LiquidTurbo 06-19-2013 10:16 PM

Don't understand the 55% rating and 'rotten' rating, compared to the glowing reviews of Fast 6.

This movie is solid entertainment. If you're looking for perfect plot development, than look elsewhere.

think it has to do with peoples expectations

they expect a campy action film with fast cars and explosions when watching a fast and furious movie

but with superman people have greater expectations not just for the movie but how the character of superman/clark kent is portrayed and i think for many that's why the Donner/Lester Superman films are still the best

haymura 06-20-2013 08:00 AM

its hard to really please everyone especially with a superhero icon thats been around for ages. there will always be mixed reviews because half of them want a serious, deeper story while others are looking for a feel good story. its also hard for ppl to relate and feel for the character because the concept isnt realistic compared to others like batman or iron man. in Iron man, we had a sense of connection with him cuz the concept of it being real is not far off from being reality so we had a better sense of understanding what the character is feeling. batman is the same way. heroes like green lantern, thor, hulk, and other "godly" powers tend to be a hit or miss in movies cuz of the sense of far fetched fantasy that will never happen in the real world.

SkinnyPupp 06-20-2013 08:10 AM

I think it breaks down like this:

Action/sci-fi movie fans who don't care about Superman and just want "nice CG" and fight scenes: loved it

People who grew up with the original 80's movies as their main idea of Superman: hated it

Superman/DC fanboys who love anything about Superman/DC: loved it

People who just want a good movie, regardless of drama: didn't like it, but didn't hate it

well, i would rate it around the same for a number of reasons
- terrible acting from amy adams, their whole "romance" was stupid as fuck
- kevin costner's character was stupid as fuck
- really cheesy lines/dialogue
- okay we get it, he's jesus

all in all, the reason DC comics suck as a whole in movies (except for batman) is because whereas you can actually see marvel heroes existing in real life society, dc characters are wooden and static and are a product of a much simpler, retarded time in pop culture

Just some random trivia but that's exactly the reason why DC took a dive in popularity and Marvel was doing well.

DC comics = god like characters that are above everything. Good and evil is black and white.

Marvel comics = Down to earth characters who all have human problems to deal with. ie. Spiderman dealing with relationships, Iron Man dealing with alcoholism

rsx 06-20-2013 04:10 PM

They spent too much time with his origins. It's silly. Everyone knows superman's story.

1st act of the movie should've been a destroyed Metropolis and Superman fighting Doomsday. He loses and gets "killed." Lex Luthor and scientists help Superman recover. Backstory can start a bit (where did DD come from, etc). He awakens and kills doomsday.
1h45m.

Not really racist! 06-20-2013 04:16 PM

CGI was amazing but damn some of the scenes were so retarded

I was shaking my head every now and then like FNF6, enjoyable for the most part tho

winson604 06-20-2013 04:32 PM

I'm surprised anyone still pays attention to RT or any other similar site. Just like Urban Spoon for food or eBay seller ratings I always focus on the actual comments of the "average" person instead of some "expert".

rice cooker 06-21-2013 06:51 AM

This guys hilarious

spoon.ek9 06-22-2013 10:47 AM

watched it last night. it was good but not as entertaining as i thought it would be. it's sad to say, but i got more entertainment out of FF6 than this film. if i compare this to the dark knight trilogy, it doesn't even come close. who knows though, this could just be the beginning to something great. i remember not being too fond of batman begins when it first came out.

I do have a feeling the next sequel will be much better. The sequel will definitely explore more about the relationship between Clark and Lois. This film focused on 2 aspects: the origin (krypon, struggle finding his place) & the action (Zod and his army). Don't expect humor or romance. This is Zack Snyder's signature anyway. (300, watchmen) Superman really needs someone like Christopher Nolan to develop all the way, develop characters, etc. Still, while the critics didn't like Man of Steel, the general population loved it

Oh and Kevin Costner's acting was actually quite good. One of the better performances in the movie.

LiquidTurbo 06-24-2013 10:17 PM

Did anyone else notice the "Battlestar Gallactica" type camera movement totally overused in the Krypton scenes??

R. Mutt 06-25-2013 05:47 AM

I agree. I didn't like the pan, zooms and push-ins like someone was recording with a cam-corder. They usually do this so you feel like you're right there in the action but it just makes you dizzy. More so in 3D since the movie was shot in 2D and then converted to stereo. I would know this because I worked on the Visual Effects (16 shots) and can tell you the shots look much better in 2D as opposed to feeling forced in 3D.
