Need to find a proper resistor

R1 and R2 should be resistors on the diagram, but what the heck is 6K8 or 6KB?

shouldn't skip gr10 electronic class.

Yeah they just use it as a decimal basically, 6800 ohm and the color of the stripes would be blue,grey,red and most likely gold or silver. If you use surface mount they use a code usually to identify the resistance.

just came back from an electronic store, what's the voltage of these resistors? can you guys tell?

and the guy told me 6.2K is the standard ohm...never heard of 6.8K ohm..I was like lol

^ it's depending on size of the resistor and colour overall

but it's watts not voltage

Watts = Voltage x amperage

They are usually rated in watts, it looks like a low power one will be fine for you from that schematic.

It's a voltage reducer, so there's no voltage rating for it. But you need to know it's maximum dissipation power. It usually comes in 1/4, 1/2, 1w for small circuits.

For a serial interface device, I'd say 1/4w is enough, but if you want to play it safe, buy something bigger.

Seems to me you need to do some googling and breadboarding before you start soldering stuff on.

So what are you building that's using the I2C bus?

6.2K or 6.8K isn't going to matter much. They are pullup resistors required by the I2C bus to limit current. I highly doubt your circuit would care which resistor you used.

There really isn't a voltage rating - resistors are rated by watts. In your case the voltage/current are low so the dissipation in watts is going to be low. 1/4W (which is a common and easy to find value) is going to be plenty enough.

arrh yeah learned something new today, it's wattage not voltage. Just bought some 6.8K to test it out.

This thing will delete the printer page counter, so it can print 1000 pages more per toner.

serial port/usb draws very minimal power, i think 1/4 watts will do for you if you buy through hole resistors.
