firebird79_00 08-10-2011 04:46 PM

Neutral dropped my car around Marine and Kerr, ended up blowing multiple holes in the transmission. I dragged it from there to Boundary and Rumble in 1st doing about 30 blowing smoke all up Boundary until i hit rumble and then i waited for the tow truck..So many people gave me the finger and honked at me on the way up there, i was in the right lane and had hazards on.

And then the igniter goes, or the coil burns out, or the cam sensor fails.

I've been lucky *knocks on wood* with my Subaru. No breakdowns in the 2 and a half years I've had it.

elwell 08-10-2011 06:09 PM

when i first had my N, i was rolling around my school area in a shit box and the engine broke down, had to push it off the road and a couple of kids from school saw and laugh at me.

stewie 08-10-2011 06:21 PM

took a girl to cresent beach in white rock when i was 19ish? parked my exploder near the beach....went to leave late at night...the slave cylinder bit the dust...buggers located inside the tranny so it was a loooong awkward ride home with a tow truck driver.

We were cruising home, after a day of wheeling, on Lougheed Hwy in PoCo and hit a stale green light that turned red just before we reached the intersection in my CJ5. Hammered the brakes, blew a front brake line, pedal went to the floor and sailed through the red light with no brakes. I always thought the rear brakes didn't work that well ................ Luckily no one was in the intersection. I kept a spare brake line in my tool box and we had it changed out with brakes bled and on the road in half an hour.

Not really broke down but last year I went to the nightmarket and parked in the area where its free on viscount way. Somehow I lost my spare key while walking around the night market and i already lost my main key the week before. Shitty dealz so my car stayed there for a couple days til i finally decide to tow it to my place and get a locksmith to make new keys :(

nns 08-10-2011 08:23 PM

^How did you prove to the locksmith that you owned the car if the doors were locked? Or did the tow truck driver leave them unlocked after opening them? If so, how does the tow truck driver know it's actually your car?

spoon.ek9 08-10-2011 09:45 PM

none of the cars i've owned have broken down on me.. 1 mazda, 2 hondas. the family camry overheated once in the highway to alberta but that's about it!

beetea 08-10-2011 11:01 PM

on oak street bridge during rush hour, when it was snowing. quite possibly the biggest embarrassment of my life.

fuel gage was broken, realized I had zero gas, had to wait for 45 minutes for someone to come with a jerry can.

people were super mean :okay:

Energy 08-10-2011 11:11 PM

My old car and my current car are Hondas. Never broke down on me.

Our old delivery van in Asia was a Mazda MPV. I was doing delivery one day and it just overheated. Had to pull over to the side of the road for a bit and add water but that was it. Not as bad as some of the stories in here lol.

For all these break downs, it would have been better if you guys had posted year of the car and make and model.

Would have made it more interesting.

No breakdowns but some dumb mistakes on my part.

I was out with a girl one time doing some 4X4'ing in Slave Lake (sp?) out in Mission with my dad's 1994 Toyota 4Runner. I knew nothing about proper attire and equipment. Got stuck in a mud hole for what seemed to be 3 hours. There were some hillbillies who came and helped me out. I was initially embarrassed and afraid but they were super nice. The spent lots of time trying to drag me out. I just kept getting stuck again and again. One time I left my rear hatch window down and the guy trying to pull me out spun his wheels and threw a bunch of mud inside the 4Runner. Another guy even had his tow line snap while trying to pull me out. I had to run the truck through the car wash 2 times and there was still mud everywhere. Never did tell my dad what happened though.

Another time, I locked my keys in my Acura EL while hiking in Golden Ears. I had opened the truck, locked the car locks, and locked the trunk lock (this lock that's beside the driver's seat which locks the lever for the trunk). I was taking off my jacket when I threw the key into the trunk and then closed the trunk. Ranger station was 25 minutes so me and this girl was I dating hiked all the way there, waited another 30 minutes for the ranger to show up, another 30 minutes for the tow truck to come and then another 30 minutes for him to figure out a way to pick my trunk lock. $120 tow bill and I gave him another $20 for tip.

Both times I was with a girl I was interested in. I guess I get distracted easily. They were both really cool though and though the experience was embarrassing and humbling, they didn't give me a hard time and they were both really supportive.
