question about bose system

i recently picked up my 96 rl and am thinking of replacing the headunit because lets face it, its annoying to go to the trunk to change cd's every couple of days. I went to go talk to an instalation guy and he said i had to replace my whole system because double din decks output 4 ohms and my bose speakers are at 2. anyone know if this is true or can i put a new deck in no problem? thanks for the help guys.

Acura speakers are usually 4 ohms except for the sub if its got one - its 2 ohms. You should bypass the amplifier for best results.

You can usually preamp into the factory amp in any Bose system. It requires identifying the factory preamp signal wires and inputting into them with the aftermarket head unit preamp outputs. This will retain your factory sub with no need for an aftermarket amp to run it.

You can actually bypass the amplifier and convert the sub amplifier's signal to low level to retain separate subwoofer control (instead of summed F&R) AND the factory sub while using the better amplifier from the deck. This is something best left to a pro installer. I have done quite a few of these cars.
