| RCMP Confirm Jonathan Bacon Dead in Shooting

RCMP confirm Jonathan Bacon, the eldest of three brothers police have linked to a violent gang, died in a shooting Sunday that also injured a Hells Angel.
Mounties have pledged to take "swift and extraordinary measures" to find those responsible for the brazen daylight shooting in Kelowna Sunday.
One person was killed and another five were injured when a white Porsche SUV that was pulling out of the Delta Grand Okanagan hotel was targeted by an unconfirmed number of gunmen at around 2:45 p.m.
Police have said both men and women were inside the SUV when it was ambushed. The five surviving occupants were rushed to hospital but the severity of their injuries is unknown.
At a press conference Sunday night, RCMP Const. Steve Holmes assured that the general public is not believed to be at risk –- but said investigators are determined to hunt down the suspects and bring them to justice.
"The public needs to know that swift and extraordinary measures are being taken in order to ensure that those responsible will be found and brought to account," Holmes said.
Police say no bystanders were struck by stray gunfire or otherwise injured in the shooting.
The suspects are believed to have emerged from a vehicle described as a "silvery-green SUV" with tinted windows moments before the shooting.
One witness said the shooters held what "looked to me like automatic weapons," and that between 15 and 20 shots were fired. Another reported hearing 30 shots, or "at least one full clip," unloaded into the Porsche.
On Sunday night, a burned-out vehicle was found on a back road between Winfield and Vernon, but police have not confirmed whether it is related to the shooting.
The Bacon brothers are believed to head the Red Scorpions gang, which has been fighting a bloody war with the United Nations gang in B.C. for years.
Jamie Bacon is in police custody as a suspect in the Surrey Six murder case. Brother Jarrod was arrested in 2008 as part of a major drug trafficking investigation. The three brothers grew up together in Abbotsford.
Mounties are expected to release more information on Sunday's shooting at a press conference Monday afternoon.

The choices he has made lead him the down this road, sure you can say it is a big event, but even if one leader was shot down , there will be a thousand other guys waiting in line for the top position. There will always be drug trafficking and shooting as long as there is money to made and guns being produced, there is no stopping that.

just for you guys who have never been farther east than abbotsford. the place this shooting happened, is about the busiest place in kelowna, especially in the middle of a sunday afternoon. theres thousands of tourists and residents walking around there at any given time. its in front of our biggest destination hotel, casino, arena, several restaurant patios and major downtown gathering place. imagine someone gunning down a car in your busiest area of yaletown in the middle of a sunny sunday afternoon.
im fucking pissed!

Yep if there is a center hub of Kelowna this is where it is. The court house is half a block away, there is a super busy restaurant on the water and not to mention the people staying at the Hotel which is the nicest hotel in K-town. Not cool. Can't believe no bystanders were hit and ONLY the target died.

ya its nuts. very lucky no stray bullets hit anyone. the reports are the guy was 'shooting from the hip' and went thru a 'full clip' or 20-30 rounds.
if you can do that, and only hit the guy you want to hit, and no one else, i want you in my COD hardcore mode clan.  musta been running steady aim

the other thing to note is that Larry Amero, a full-patch member of the HA, was hit too. the people that did this will/may now incur the wrath of the Hells Angels as well. Independent Soldiers, Red Scorpions, Hells Angels, etc. Bang bang bang. this will NOT go away quietly.

apparently they pulled a random driveby in another part of town to divert police resources before they carried out this hit. They also got that truck burned pretty quick so it sounds like it was well planned, not some amateurs.

rumors are (lots of similar comments) it was the HA that had the hit carried out because this larry guy et al were going against/plotting to go against the ha but as with most comments they're probably just bs

"There will be a thousand other guys waiting in line for the top position." Yes, HOWEVER, just because there are lots of people waiting in line to be in the top position and just because one head cut off will let another one grow, doesn't mean that there won't be other consequences as a result.
Regardless of what I say or do, your narrow-minded thinking won't change. But I'll make one last effort anyways. Yes, drugs are trafficked and murders are committed all the time. However, this was a high-profile murder and as a result the stakes will be raised higher. More security will be issued within the gangs, meaning more guns on the streets. More vendettas will be raised meaning even more gang-violence...MORE people in the public will be at risk because no way know that these people have no fear of where they are killing each other or who knows it.
The stakes have been raised regardless of whether these events occur every day. It's simple. Not really a hard concept to grasp...

The fact that the hit happened in broad daylight in one of the busiest areas of Kelowna was symbolic in itself: no one in the gang community is safe anywhere or any time.
