Holy Road Rage!

Frightening!

WEST VANCOUVER -- The victim of a road rage incident in West Vancouver on Saturday night says he is lucky to be alive after a man in a pickup truck drove into him and pinned him against his car.

Kam Aein Parast, 45, said he was driving with his wife through the intersection of Taylor Way and Marine Drive at 9:45 p.m. when he noticed the driver of a black Toyota pickup truck tailgating them and flashing his high beam headlights.

Aein Parast pulled over at a red light to allow the driver to pass, and the next thing he knew, the man -- described as a five-foot-five white male in his 30s -- was standing outside his car.

"The windows were open, and all of a sudden I felt someone punch my face," he said. "He kept trying to punch me more, for no reason."

Aein Parast stepped out of his car to defend himself, and the man ran back to his truck.

"The whole time he was screaming, cursing," he said. Aein Parast began to search for his phone, which he thought he dropped on the sidewalk on the passenger's side of the car.

As he stood outside his vehicle, the driver of the truck then suddenly accelerated into his car, pinning Aein Parast between the two vehicles.

"I just thought, I'm dying," he said. "He was squeezing me between the cars."

Aein Parast said the truck's tires were spinning and smoke was flying into the air. A window on his own vehicle shattered and the passenger's door and front bumper were damaged.

The driver of the truck sped off shortly after. Aein Parast was transported to Lion's Gate Hospital, where he was treated for serious injuries. He received 17 stitches to his shoulder and lower back, and most of his body is severely bruised, he said.

As police search for the suspect, Aein Parast says he's still trying to come to terms with what happened.

"I have no idea why I'm alive right now. I cannot believe . . . why these people should do this. I don't understand," he said.

"We're living in a society that is heaven compared to many others. I don't know why we shouldn't be thankful, and be friendly to each other."

Police say the truck is a model year between 2000 and 2007 and the license plate may have the number 114 in it. They do not know whether it is a B.C. license plate. The truck would have sustained damage to the passenger side of the vehicle.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to help the investigation is asked to call the West Vancouver Police Department at 604 925-7300 and quote file #11-10497.

Holy shit. Not much else to say, really. Keep your windows up, I guess? I mean, if it was me, if I saw the guy getting out of the car, first thing I'd do is gtfo.

Thats what I think. Why would he physically get out of the car once the guy kept punching. That or why did it escalate that far?

haha13 08-22-2011 02:31 PM

Hmm I saw a black pickup truck tailgating and weaving through traffic yesterday on Hwy 91 on my way to the RS meet. Wonder if it's the same one.

smaggs 08-22-2011 02:43 PM

Damn. Drove by when this was happening and saw the cars pulled over, thought it was a crash but was driving so couldn't really see what happened. Saw a couple cops pull up very quickly from coming down Taylor way in my rear view then heard more sirens for a bit while i was at Park Royal

bengy 08-22-2011 03:25 PM

Wow, he didn't notice the guy get out of the car until he was getting punched? NO FUCKING WONDER! He was probably doing 40 clicks in the fucking left lane.

:troll:

in all seriousness it's a shame things have to escalate to this. if everyone just showed a little courtesy on the road and be a little calmer, we could avoid situations like this.

but then again this is vancouver so that's asking too much

Gh0stRider 08-22-2011 03:58 PM

thats some scary shit man.

Great68 08-22-2011 04:17 PM

Anjew 08-22-2011 04:29 PM

i'm pretty sure that there is much more to it.... lots of people in vancouver do selfish/reckless moves all the time without even knowing it....

So what? that doesn't deserve being essentially run over. I get mad at these drivers all the time, and trust me I want to punch them in the face and run them over... yet I don't.

drunkrussian 08-22-2011 04:55 PM

i just read this thread.
my dad just got home 1hr ago and he said some of his coworkers were complaining about an erratic driver in a dark blue truck.
they thought he was flee-ing an accident because the left side of the truck bed was damaged.
it was probably the same truck Riddle noted, because my dad and all his coworkers take the Alex Fraser Bridge

Probably deserve the punches though. I doubt the "victim" is so innocent. There are so many dick drivers out there who think nobody would get to them so they pull all the shits they could think of to piss off people.

The way I see it, you don't get punched and then pinned in your own car for no reason.

bloodmack 08-22-2011 06:10 PM

Theres always 2 sides to a story.. unless the guy was already provoked from a previous incident with someone else the guy who got his ass kicked probably deserved it..

I hope you never step infront of me, cause I'm going to punch you in the face for getting in my way.

Shit happens, this is the wrong way to deal with it, and its sad people here think its deserved.

Better be some attempted murder charges laid if he's caught

oh, by no means do i condone violence, must have been my skeptic undertones of that victims reports.

I totally understand the frustrations people have because they know that the bad driver will continue their bad habits without any repercussions and eventually an accident with an innocent party.

violence is definitely the wrong way to go, the victim is probably now clueless than he ever is
