Are they anything like these Revision6 headlights for the MR2? Would be pretty sweet.

bringing this up from before. I do like it more than the revision6 setup because it's all HID's in projectors.

Time to complete it depends on the owner. I daily drove the car so it could only go into the shop on certain days.

All I can say is get it done right the first time

I was brought raw projector lenses with only brackets to hold the bulbs on place so I built full housings from scratch to seal and hold the projectors in place and have them adjustable. Wired one set to the factory fog light setup bypassing the DRL function. Wired both projectors to hi beam and all told it was about two days worth of work.
Thanks for posting pics Keith

Just out of curiosity.. what is the legality or ramifications of a licensed shop doing modifications that contravene's MVA?

You drive around at your own risk as the person who requested it. I've driven with them for months now and yes they're not the most legal but meh. Most cops are not anal about it since I have proper cut off as you can see in the pictures. This is not some CHEAP $100 H.I.D. Kit which glares like mad. The projectors are off BMW/Range Rover/Benz. And if you got a question about MVA just ask the cop forum of revscene. Then they'll redirect you to all the acts which are all on the www.

I don't really care about the customers perspective but the owners of the shop. I assumed a licensed shop is govern by provincial law and would not perform illegal modifications?

Tons of shops sell hid's and install them. Are they legal in non oem applications NO(ie:into halogen housing). Is lowering a car legal NO. is slapping a kit on your car and giving your car less ground clearance legal? NO does paint shops still sell you kits and install a kit that says off road use only? YES is it legal? NO. Is running a stand alone ECU legal on public roads legal? NO Does car shops still install them for you and tune it? YES

It's probably listed as "for off road use only" like most products. The shops install it for your intended use of not on public roads.

For example:

On AEM widebands it says "This product is legal in California for racing vehicles only and should never be used on public highways."

Ton's of places are probably not licensed shops... nor / should not put an obviously illegal / unique job on an official receipt.

I am not interested in enforcement nor customer's perspective, but I am curious about Phil and Rise's salon's liability. Since I haven't seen a licensed shop yet that publicly advertise such service.

I understand as a licensed shop there is an obligation not to put cars that are not roadworthy or a car have things that contravene the MVA on the street. (much like commercial inspection places).

For things like lower, you can marginally put that as suspension replacement / refurbishment (since you don't have to put the final height). I just can't see you can do the same like that with lights, since nearly all retrofit are quite invasive and take up a lot of shop time.

In the US, they have closed the "for off road use only" loophole.

Some of the things you have listed are in fact legal modifications to your vehicle and will/do pass a provincial MVI.
Godwin as for my opinions on HID's in cars and retro fitting projectors, I have them, I keep them to myself, there are far to many haters out there for me to waste time and discussion on.
I will say this, if I feel any modification is too dangerous for a street driven vehicle given the capabilities of the person driving said car I will not perform said modifications.
The Probe posted above may have lighting that contravenes the MVA but it is safer now then how it was designed as new. Had the technology been readily available at the time of manufacture that car would have similar lighting as to what I put in.

I also do projector retrofits out of my shop at home.
HID bulbs in a halogen housing =
Click here for a short video clip from the UK regarding plug-n-play HID kits versus OEM HID headlights. Projector retrofitting may not be 100% legal, but it's one step closer.
