Racing on a public freeway reveals 2nd generation Chinese wealthy kid “supercar club”
During the rush hour of Wednesday, a group of 13 Super Luxury cars was seized after the drivers were charged with street racing. MingPao Daily’s sources state that these cars originate from a local “2nd generation wealthy Chinese supercar club”. After the event, the drivers involved in this incident immediately went onto online social communities to “speak their hearts”, with some criticizing that the police were misguided. Nobody within the group of drivers express regret and there were even two people who took a picture so they can use it to show off this “proud moment in history” in the future.

Parents are not your average joe
The majority of this car club’s members have parents who are not your “average joe”. Most are well known high ranking corporate executives, with some others being members of government in China. Some of these international students come to Canada with tens of thousands of dollars in their pockets, and high end expensive mobile phones – living the luxurious lifestyle.

Sources tell that when the club was first created, it seemed to cooperate a lot with the police, with “Don’t drink and drive” and “don’t speed” banners present at each and every event. However, after the departure of the original club creators (due to graduation) the new members lost sight of the original intentions of the club, and started organizing illegal races in public streets. The participants have a complete disregard for the rules of the road, using the “blocking traffic” method to clear a gap ahead to allow for races. This method is commonly used in China for the same purposes of street racing, with the only exception that it has never been done in rush hour traffic.

Some of the accused drivers took to online social websites to speak of their experiences on Wednesday. They stated that at the time there were 14 vehicles heading to White Rock at the same time, when some of the drivers began to race on the freeway – which eventually caused a lot of complaints and calls into 911. One of the drivers said “One high speed pass and we had the entire White Rock police force after us”. This incident has since been passed onto mainland China.

One of the ladies who participated stated “last time we went to White Rock, they did the exact same thing” and feels helpless for the current situation. Another driver felt that some in the group were too keen on showing off – and overdid it a little.

Regarding the report on Global TV, members commented on the site and stated that it was just adding insult to injury – “we don’t need to show off! We don’t want to disgrace the Chinese any more!”. However, when most spoke of their experience, none express regret for their actions – to the point where they were saying that it was only white people who were jealous of the Chinese’s nice cars, and that the police were hungry for money. They also firmly state that they were not speeding/racing, as they would be slapped by a heavier fine more than $196.00 have they been going over the supposed 200km/h.

"I was only following, not racing"
The Owner/Driver of the Audi R8 contacted the local news outlet and claimed that these cars could “Easily achieve 200km/h” and that though only a few participated in the race, not all participated – these only followed behind.
One couple belonging to the club took a “happy photo” in front of their beloved car as a “memory”, with the caption “My car is being towed, very happy”. Another member took a mass of photos as the police dealt with the situation, as to show his grandkids one day that he too had crazy teenager days.
